Is it normal to want to ram cars who drive to slow?

Alright... I'm not a real crazy and reckless driver. I just don't like to drive slowly. I think that anyone who drives less than 5 over the speed limit is a pussy and a needs to just get out of my damn way.

For example, I live in la suburbia land and there is a street that is wide enough for 4 lanes but has no lines, all on a really steep hill for about 1 mile and it's only 25. That's ridiculous. I get that it's a residential neighborhood but it's an extremely busy road (it's in between 3 schools) but COME ON! 25?! It's difficult to stay 25 going down it.

To give you a slight idea of how steep this hill is, if I was parked at the top and just let my brakes off to just coast, I could easily hit like 80 miles by the time I got to the bottom. It's pretty damn steep. And I HATE getting behind someone who has the audacity to go the speed limit. I think they're a bunch of assholes who hold everyone else up. It's the same on the highway. I can't stand anyone being in front of me.

I was riding with my grandma and she was going 5-10 UNDER the speed limit (which was 35) and I told her that she needed to go faster (there were cars behind us) and she was going on about how it's the speed LIMIT not the speed MINIMUM. I wanted to punch her in the face. How selfish is that? You want to go slow so you have to hold up people behind us so you can look at the flowers??

This is also my feeling about people who slow to a crawl when turning too.

Honestly, all speed limits should be raised by at least 10 MPH in my opinion.

Same deal here. I'll do much more damage than just a ram in the face... :D
But he does have a point. Some people drive too slow.

The fact of the matter is, it is a residential neighborhood. The speed limit is enforced because it is a residential neighborhood. People are more likely to jaywalk in their own neighborhood than they are when they are on, say, a highway, or a road with a speed limit over 35-40. If someone goes out into the road and the speed limit is 25 and you hit them doing 50-60, you will probably be charged with vehicular manslaughter because you knowingly broke the law whereas they would have had a greater chance of survival had you been doing the speed limit.

This is the risk you are running when you speed in a residential neighborhood. I see it happen all of the time. Whether or not the guy was breaking the law or being stupid while crossing a residential street won't matter to the judge.

The fact of the matter is, speed contributes to a large percentage of deadly accidents in the Unites States. It's normal to be frustrated by slow drivers, but we are not all daredevils with a blatant disregard for human life. I'll stick to the speed limit (5 miles above at max). My life isn't any more valuable than that of the guy in front of me. When you speed, seriously speed, you truly are endangering the lives of those around you. Many people don't realize it and many people get away with doing it but honestly? Sometimes when people are doing 5+ miles under the speed limit, I wish I had an F-350 or something so I can tail them. A corolla wouldn't dare brake check a truck like that.

People know better than to cross a street without looking. And this isn't just a dinky little street. I don't speed that much in the smaller streets. This is a huge street that is constantly busy even in the middle of the night. It honestly should have lines going down it but it doesn't. No one's been hit on this street either. And frankly, if someone is hit at any speed, they probably deserve it for being out in the street without looking. Again, this is why I don't think the drivers should be held completely responsible. If you're out in the street, you should be held creditable for risking your life. Speeding or not, you shouldn't be out in the street.

And people who do break checks are stupid. Do you know how many people aren't paying attention when people do that? It's the dumbest idea ever. I want to shoot anyone who does that for putting themselves and others in danger.

It doesn't matter what SHOULD happen, and I agree with you, if someone is crossing a street like that, then it is NOT your fault but the judge won't give two shits and a fuck, dude. That's how the law is. A lot of people know this, and some people just are not cool with breaking the law in such a manner.

It's ok to be annoyed that not everyone has a blatant disregard for the law, I am sure that burgalars find annoyance with security cameras all of the time, but you have to understand that some of us don't give a shit how busy a road is, the law is the law. And not all of us are in such a hurry either.

I, personally, leave early for work to avoid the trouble. I'll tell you this, I do speed but not to such a degree that you would condone. It IS reckless endangerment, even if everyone else doesn't care.

Fuck, I wouldn't do a brake check but I am certainly tempted to when there are four clear lanes and I am in the slow lane doing 65-70 and some asshole is riding my bumper so close that all I see in my rear view is grille. Usually I just go slower when people do this.

Then you should never drive behind my girlfriend. When the limit is 50 kph (30 mph i think), she drives about 30kph. (18mph :D)
We went once on the autobahn... The next time i drove...
Slight hint: Most trucks honked at us. I've never felt so embaressed!

I usually drive 5mph or more above the limit (When there are no cops. When there are, I always drive the limit). Good thing german autobahns don't have limits. Maxed out my car at 250kph and my girlfriend's car at 190kph.

Where are you going in such a rush?
OK you may arrive 30 seconds earlier at your destination but then again you may get caught at the next set of traffic lights.

Chill out on the roads. You are not an 'expert' driver - even though you think you are. You should be trying to read the road ahead!

This is what happened to my husband but thank God he was on a motorbike and bikers need eyes like a fly to anticipate bad car drivers. Anyway, as he turned the bend at the top of our road he thought he saw a white flash on the pavement about 100 metres down the road. He slowed down coz whatever that 'flash' was it was coming out between two parked cars. He thought it was maybe a car or small dog.
IT WAS A BABY IN A DIAPER CRAWLING out from between the two parked cars and was on the road. He put his foot to its head to stop it coming any further and shouted, "Who owns this baby?" Unfortunately, yes, he held up all the cars until the mother ran out hysterically and scooped up the child!!

OP - If you continue to speed one of the residents is going to take your registration and note the time you go through. One day you will find the police there with the speed camera, waiting just for you.

I think that the worst drivers are those who think their passengers need to lip read so they take their eyes off the road!

I have been hit 3 times by young male 'boy racers' unable to stop in time when they realise I am stopped at the end of a queue of traffic. Lucky for me, I leave distance and have never been pushed into the car in front.

    Slow down jackass!

Where am I going? I'm going to work, school, chauffeuring, running errands. I'm a full-time student and a full-time worker. I usually have less than an hour to go between them and that's not a lot of time for me. I don't have time to wait for some dick wad to go slow because he has all the time in the world. I have things to do and as a grown adult, I'm sure you could imagine what it'd be like to lose your job. You at least have another income to live on. I don't. I have to get to places ON time or it costs me money and puts my job at risk. Fuck assholes who drive slow.

It's not like I go 20 miles over the speed limit, lady. I go 5 to 10 over. And I'm not a stupid "boy racer". I'm a girl. I don't race shit in my Civic. And it's not just residential roads that I ride on. It's people on the interstate, too. There are literal traffic jams because of assholes who think it's okay to go under the speed limit. If you want to go slow, then stay in the slow lane or pull to the side and let the "jackasses" pass.

And about the kid thing, I have another story on here about that too.

Leave earlier or if you are an incompetent driver who suffers from 'road rage' get the bus!!

You will learn to slow down and chill out - either to your own cost or at someone else's expense :o(

I was once a 'speed merchant' too, until I was the front car in a motorway pile up when a fool driving too fast couldn't get stopped in time. He was in his 40s rushing to work, and ploughed into the back of our lane of traffic. By the time he realised we were stopped, it was too late for us all :o(

Share out your errands for the sake of your own safety and that of others.

There aren't buses around here. And it's not like I drive 20 miles over. I drive 5-10 (15 if I'm coasting down hill). I'm not a an incompetent driver. The only crash I was in was from when I was 13 and an idiot woman randomly stopped on the interstate. And we only hit her because it was so sudden and we hydroplaned because it was raining.

Some of us aren't lucky enough to be able to "share out" errands.

I saw this sticker on a car recently,

"Better late than DEAD on time"

Just for you, and you are incompetent if you can't keep to the MAXIMUM speed limit for that type of road in perfect conditions. When it's wet you slooooow down even more!!

That is why vehicles have bumpers. Just give the car in front of you a gentle, friendly "bump" to remind the person not to drive slowly in front of you, and he or she will likely speed up. If they don't just give them a slightly less gentle and friendly bump.

  • I kinda agree with the OP. I mean people who drive like fucking idiots irritate the hell outta me. Whether its driving too fast OR too slow. I mean how hard is it to keep it 5 mph over the speed limit? how hard is it to anticipate a turn enough to pull to the side so a car can get by you as you slow down? how fucking hard is it pull over to the side of the road if you have no idea where you are or where you are going??
