Is it normal to want to have an ocd

I'm wondering if its normal to WANT to have an OCD? I mean everyone always says something like 'I have to touch something with both hands' or 'everything has to be perfectly aligned' is it unusual for me to want to have something like that?

Why would you want such a thing? It can become debilitating. Are you bored and need something to do?

  • I have OCD and honestly I know you will probably not listen but you really do not want it. I constantly have mental arguments all the time because I try to fight it. I just hate the questions from the people who don't know I have OCD. Like one time I went on a date with a guy and his square plate was crooked and he was talking and I was arguing with myself about aligning his plate and so I wasn't paying attention to him. He asked "are you listening??" and I kind of freaked out and abruptly aligned his plate. He didn't understand why I could not just ignore it. It really hurts when people don't understand,

I have OCD when I go to the bathroom the tub/shower curtains must be open or I have a panic attack. Why would u want that

  • No its not normal... I'm sorry about some of the offensive comments that have been given to you but if you understood what it's like you would never want it. Every day at work I start the day the same way, saying "bink" as I touch everything in my office. Thats the good kind but there are bad times, times that no one is supposed to see. I have been stuck for hours in my bathroom because even though I have washed them over 100 times I can't get them clean enough. I know that dosn't sound horrible but every time it happens I can't help but think "Whats wrong with me? Why am I so pathetic?" most of the time this ends with me having my forehead on the sink and my hands are under the water while I weep. There is nothing about OCD that makes you special. It just takes time out of your life, precious time that can't be taken back. It's funny... even as I write this I'm controlling my breaths so that I only type while breathing out.

It is not weird to want it. But you really shouldn't want it. It can mess up a lot of things, and make you go insane when you can't do what you "need" to do. I almost failed a paper b/c I had to say a sentence 8 times, my teacher thought I was waisting time, and didn't have anything was just making my paper up. You really shouldn't want it...but it is not weird to want it. Just don't make yourself have it b/c OCD it not fun!

I have a couple of OCD issues. I have no idea why I have them and didn't acquire them until about 20 years ago.
Every time I leave home and shut the garage door I have to sit in my car and wait until the door is completely down.....and then I say "Down, down, down" . Only then can I leave.
I also pick the skin off of the palms of my hands....can be very painful, but I can't stop doing it.
OCDs are no fun. It is NOT something you should want. If you want to be unique in some way try developing a talent or accomplishing something big that sets you apart..... everyone has certain gifts that can be developed into talents in all kinds of ways. But OCDs.....don't go there!

  • I don't understand why would you want a mental disorder. It doesn't automatically grant you super detective skills, you know.

I have a friend that is like this. I think it comes from an ovewhelming urge to stand out and have something unique and "special" about yourself.

  • I have some and I have noticed it since kinder garden. What I do changes very often because I have to constantly fight the OCD. It is no fun because it can effect almost everything you try to do and almost constantly interrupts your life.

SO WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU WANT IT!?

You don't want OCD's, trust me. They are annoying as hell and feel like more of a chore than 'being unique' or however you put it.

I have OCD. It's not severe enough to interfere with my daily life but it can definitely be annoying and stressful. Trust me...it doesn't make you special.

Most emos don't like blood either. It's a charade, just like everything else.
OCD is definitely interesting, but you'd have to be careful what you say, those who have it aren't always so pleased with it. Im excessively neat, but if everything were 400% tidy, I'd probably lose it.. I wouldn't want to have everything perfect.

  • Maybe you just want to feel unique? It may be an attention grabbing thing, I used to want to have something that made me 'special' as a kid. Then one day my brain granted that wish, and now I have anxiety issues and slight OCD. Thanks past self, you're a twat :')

Your an idiot. Grow up. That's offensive to people who suffer this condition.
