Is it normal to want to go back to nature?

Since I was 15 (now 25) it has been my dream to build a little batch and live off the land. Say like deep in the forest, jungle or the rocky mountains where there is no money, technology, pollution and people. Just me at one with mother earth..utter bliss. How awesome would that be?!

I've thought about it a lot. Probably moreso because I live in one of the most overcrowded countries in the world and there just isn't somewhere you can go and be alone for any significant length of time.

But I think I'd want to take someone with me. I've been largely alone for the last year and I don't see myself doing it much longer.

Pretty badass, making your living on the land and livestock and game, it would probably be a tougher life in terms of staying alive, but less complicated. Less stress, no bullshit, no dividing time into chunks when it should just flow... It'd be pretty badass. I wouldn't go alone though... Stay on your own long enough and the deer will start talking back.

    • admittedly of course I would love to have a warrior man for company, a survivor like Bear Grylls. Me and my Mowgli could breed the next generation of true survivors of life. But men are a bunch of pussies these days, so I am prepared to live it on my own...

I could see myself visiting you for maybe a month. I've done survival camping for like 4 week stints. Being in nature makes me happy.

That would be the life. Living off the land, hunting buffalo, sleeping in a teepee, building casinos. The only thing I would worry about is the white man stealing my land. ;D

I've always wanted to get away from modern society and live off the land with a group of people. No need for money or gas, or bad news about the market and no technology. Just couple of close-nit friends and family enjoying life. It'd be hard but worth it. The world today is just unbearable.

Yes i want that to. To live off of only instincts and be a true human. It would rock :]

Yes, but have you thought about a compromise. Incorporate what you can of nature into your daily routine. And visit the woods whenever you can.

    • for sure! when I had a car it was every weekend I'd pack up and go hiking, camping, exploring...but without my wheels, I'll get out of town once a month at the least and get my nature hit, any longer than that and I go nuts!...

It's not uncommon. When I lived in colorado we got so many backpackers! They're like a disease!

The Rocky Mountains are gorgeous go! I mean we have cougars but they rarely bother people. Have a camping trip with buddies before you decide become a mountain man
