Is it normal to want to get diagnosed with schizophrenia?

I just want someone to talk to, about something. For some reason I have this idea in my head that having schizophrenia would let me enter this whole other level of thought process. That I would think things I had never thought to think before, it would almost be supernatural. IIN?

  • You will definitely have different thoughts, but not ones you'd like.

For example, this asshole won't leave me alone. Something about Fight Club, and whatnot.

Now he's kicking my ass because I broke the first two rules.

  • I'm not diagnosed with schizophrenia but my psychiatrist thinks I'm in the early stages of it. If anything it hinders me.

Not normal. I don't think you quite understand what schizophrenia really is.

The voices in your head will be far from your 'friend', and they won't be talking with you, but more like; at you. And it won't be a gracious experience. Theres no way for you to turn it off, and you might even come close to killing yourself from it.

We all have too much time on our hands once and a while. I have thought it would be fun to have a mental illness ... but only for a period of time, I want to option to opt out when I feel like it.

I have schizophrenia and it is FAR, very far, from having a friend. It's more of one of those weird cousins who never leave you alone. They don't respond if you talk back. I'm sorry, but people like you are the reason I can't be more open about my disorder.

That's wishing to be sick with something for attention by the sounds of it. Not normal. You might have munchausen syndrome. If you want to talk to someone you can get a therapist anyway and tell them you have this craving. I'm sure they will have a field day with you. You don't need to be schizophrenic to get help or NEED help, or just to have a psychologist help you explore your mind.

Talk to your doctor and ask for a referral to a psychologist.

Watch a show called Perception on TNT, if you have that channel. It pretty much shows an ideal reason, or at least from your perspective, why schizophrenia wouldn't be a bad syndrome. Plus, the main character is pretty interesting.

Sometimes with the schizophrenia you don't remember what the other side has done or said so it's not all fun and games.

    That shit freaks me out.

Except schizophrenia isn't really the sort of supernatural experience you would want to have. It'd be more like contacting demons or being sent to hell or enduring a bad trip. Unless you're a masochist, I can't really imagine that being a fun experience.
