I sort of had the same desire, well at least with dirt. I remember that when I was a little kid and my dad was mowing the lawn I always wanted to eat the dirt just cause it looked like a brownie. Paper, not so much though.
Well I don't really know, but I used to eat paper when I was little, but I don't have urges
Get those jellybeans that are all sorts of gross flavors. I've actually eaten the dirt one. It tastes like fuckin dirt
pica.........."chew."
lol.
i got enough on mah plate to tell the doc about this too. i can wait for this one ha
Sounds like Pica, probably due to low iron. Talk to your doctor, he or she will probably put you on iron pills. They constipate you though, so you'll probably start off on a low dosage.
That's an eating disorder called pica and it is very dangerous! Please get help before it gets out of hand.
I've looked that up, and it's only considered bad or dx'ed if you DO eat those things for at least a month. It is strange though, that both of the things I feel like eating are on their list....
That's why I'm saying that you should get help before you start acting on your urges.
My mother had strong cravings to eat dirt when she was pregnant with my little brother. I'm not sure of the specifics but it had something to do with a very low iron content in her body.
My best friend's sister is a dirt-eater. She can just about control it but it's quite an urge. One thing she absolutely has to do is lick the dirt off potatoes. If you're having a meal at her house and are served potatoes in any form, you know she's been licking them.
A woman in my favourite book is a dirt-eater too and the writer is from a very different part of the world than I. Reckon it means that this isn't uncommon and isn't localised.
compared to what i used to eat, it's normal. when i was little, i used to eat candles and lincoln logs. the toilet visits were not fun.
I once knew a girl who ate paper. didn't mind it. I also have seen many people eating dirt...didn't bother me either...so yes it is normal!
I don't eat it, but sometimes I just want to chew it, then maybe spit it out.
