Is it normal to want to dress nicely for class?

I like to dress up when I go to class; I avoid the sweatshirts and leggings and uggs combo and try to be as fashionable yet practical as I can. I do it more for myself than anyone else, but sometimes I wonder if people find it pretentious of me, and think that I'm overdressed. For example, today I belted a sweater over a dress and wore tall boots, tights and high socks.

I have to be honest, I'm in university and dress reasonably well for class (bare minimum jeans) but when I see a girl in a dress, part of me wonders how much time she spent getting ready...and why she would try so hard to sit in a class room.

It just shows you care about how you look and that you give a shit about you professional appearance. It can help in the long run.

I could never have worn anything nice to class. It was always sweatpants and baggy t-shirts. Granted I always used class-time to sleep, but still... :-P

What you're wearing sounds fairly normal.
Others actually wear sweatshirts and uggs? They must roll off the couch into class.

  • In college I wear a collered shirt, nice trousers, and formal shoes. It's my average dress style, and even in college I wear the same style. I actually got quite a lot of compliments for it.
