I believe it's normal to want to control your dreams. On the other hand, I actually don't want to control mine. I like seeing everything that happens around me, and somehow like being chased by zombies or giant were-cats that eat pink bunnies. (recent dream)
I can do this. I can not always wake in the case and that sucks even more.
look up videos in YouTube. they really work I've tried becuz I'm just as interested as u. although I've stop tryin because it's just too bothersome. if u start watching the videos u will learn that h have to create habits and stuff the most annoying is dream journal where u record r dreams I just can't be bothered to move when I just wake up let alone start filling in a diary. but they DO WORK, I've tried and became lucid. but gave up becuz I couldn't remember my lucid dream that well becuz my dream recall was bad it was just too bothersome work :p but I say go for it it's fun.
lucid dreaming WOW i love it and thats the way i dream... its so good controlling your dream becuase you should have only what you want to happen.. you can create your own imagination's world and can make happen all what you want to happen ... i think what helps in this is consciousness.... because the majority of my dreams are about the things i want them to happen in reality and over think about them so in dreams they happen and my mind eventually diverts it to as it wants...
so over think and imagine about all aspects deply' create your own views and own corner of ideas ....
I'm in experimental mode right now. Ever time I wake from a dream I concentrate on remembering everything about the dream I was having. You'll be amazed with how much you start remembering. Once you've remembered everything you can write it down.
Don't move when you wake up. It might cause you to forget or make it more difficult to remember, does for me.
I usually remember the last part of my dream and as I play it out in my head I start remembering what happened before that and so on. I've remembered up to three dreams at a time, the first ones were pretty short though.
I've had dreams I've woken up from and really didn't want it to end...so I would daydream about it and would end up falling back asleep continuing where I left off. If only I could realize I was back in my dream!
Another simple tip would be to just REALLY want it to happen. Start with dream recall. If you really want this then it WILL happen eventually. :)
Ps I remember dreams better when I am woken up in the middle of one. You may already have read online that there are certain times you should wake yourself up so you can catch a dream in progress and it seems to be correct in my experience. Set your alarm 6 or 7 1/2 hours after you plan on going to sleep.
It's extremely difficult for some people (including me). I've never managed to self-hypnotise, astrally project, lucid dream or anything that others seem able to do.
The (apparently) best tip I was given for lucid dreaming, though, is to do with increasing the flow of information between your conscious and subconscious. The only way you can do this is consciously and so what you should do is write down every single detail of every dream you had the moment you awake. I mean instantly. Not after snoozing for a bit.
Apparently this helps.
