Is it normal to want to binge on super unhealthful junk food?

It's nearly 1AM and I'm still up studying for a thermo test in the morning. I try to eat really healthfully all semester to avoid sugar highs/lows, and I get in to the gym at least 5 nights a week. I read online all the nutrition guidelines, and even follow the studies about what types of diets tend to do best for most humans. But the more I read that I shouldn't eat something, the more I want to gorge on it.

Like I just ran out about an hour ago to a 24-hr store to buy something unhealthy. I won't eat it. It's just sitting on my desk so I can study. Otherwise I'd be overcome with wanting it. I read this Dr's blog about how modern fruit has been bred to be too sweet, so that much of modern fruit is really "nature's candy." Then after reading the article I went to a local market and bought two pounds of blueberries and scarfed them down.

Does anyone else crave anything the experts tell you you're not supposed to eat--or just as bad, that you're supposed to eat only in moderation? (If I have to eat something in moderation, there's no fraggin' use me even trying it.)

I do the same with foods. I'll read that this food is bad for me and this food is good for me and I'll want the bad food. I crave junk food all the time. The only thing that's stopping me from eating candy and cake every meal again is the fear of fitting into XL clothing again.

OMG yes!!!! Or like they'll finish a health article with, "one 1/4-cup serving a day is fine," or "eat in moderation," and then you're all obsessed with the food, and feel guilty for giving in.

Maybe we should just stop reading nutrition articles and live the short time we have happily?

        I'm gonna stop. XD
Though I'm just saying that now. Days or months later I'm going to wind up being concerned for my health and read about other stuff. lol I'm weird.

I hear ya. I'm the same way--tried to give up social media, reading medical articles online... Never sticks. By the way, after swearing off excess carbs last month, and after posting this IIN question, I am JUST getting back from our local coop with a bag of baked pita chips. Damn they're good. And, of course, super starchy. :(

Hey, I'll hit the gym before classes tomorrow morning! ;) Good luck with your resolve!
