Is it normal to want to beat your younger brother up?

Maybe it isn't.

I just have to deal with his snobbishness, rudeness, disrespect, and everything because if I don't then my parents will side with him and I get in trouble. He's only 11 years old but he's already cursing at me, treating me with disrespect, and completely ignoring my feelings. When I was younger I would just beat the sh*t out of him and I didn't care if my parents got mad but I guess it started to pile up because they accuse me of everything involving my brother. I'm still deciding whether a good ass-kicking is needed, and whether it would be worth it for me. Help?

This little topic is soooo insanely close to home. I was worried that with me it wasn't normal, or at least to the extent that I feel toward my younger brother, whom is 12. Sometimes I become so angry at him, and a violent thought will flash through my mind and I will find my knuckles white and my teeth grinding. I think this is absolutely normal, ecspecailly when we are being blamed and not listened to or believed by parents. I feel your pain. lol. you're not the only one holding back those punches.

It's normal to WANT to beat him up but it's a bad idea to actually do it. Find some other torture for him that doesn't leave marks ;)

My older brothers used to beat me up all the time. We are all older now, 26 to 32 years old and although we have fine relationships now, I still hate them a little bit for what they did when we were kids. Is that what you want for you and your little brother?

i think everyone wants to beat they're siblings up. I know i get the feeling of wanting to beat my brother with a rusty lead pipe, but im sure thats just a typical sibling relationship. I understand completely what you mean and would very much like to encourage you, but if he ends up in hospital... either way just don't.

It is normal to want to beat your younger brother up. I have the same problem with with my nephew, although...I haven't actually done it yet.

For now, it isn't "worth" it to beat him up and get in loads of trouble. Try and ignore it. Listen to headphones and avoid him. If your parents blame you for stuff, point out that he's as much to blame for his attitude, but say it in a calm voice. Try to be passive about things, and let your parents see that your little brother is doing something, so that they'll side with you and he'll be in trouble. Not you.

It's worked so far with my nephew.

But most importantly: Don't get angry. Don't yell. Don't threaten him. Just go calmly talk to one of your parents or wait until one can talk to you.
