okay, so I'm in love with this guy. we'll call him Edward. we have known each other for about three or four years and have always been great friends. a year ago, he told me that he liked me and we started hanging out. we then had a few misunderstandings and decided it best to just be friends. at the beginning of this year, I hung out with him and all the feelings I had known before came flooding back. I realized I loved him so much. the problem is that my mother does not like him. she told me he is the one guy she will not let me date. I asked her why and she said he rubs her the wrong way. I love this boy, but I don't want to disobey my mother...

    God this is like story of my life, my mom & dad dont want the boy im with. I simply decided that its my life and not theirs. He makes me happy and tahts that. I have always wish for their approval but just because their not gonna give it, doesnt mean I have to be miserable.

    I've learned over the years that my parents are right about people 99% of the time. This probably isn't the case for everyone, obviously, but now that I'm older I actually ask myself "what would dad think about this guy?"
    Teenagers don't think that way, though. But maybe you'll learn.

    My wifes mother HATES me im talking HATES and so does her father, but she loves me and we love our daughter and they love our daughter, after a while they just look past ME and look at there granddaughter lol. ....and besides just rubs her the wrong way dosent seem like a good reason...

    You should always consider your parents feelings. But in this case, the simple answer of "he rubs me the wrong way" is very weak. Does she actually know anything about this boy? Or does she judge people based on appearances?
