Is it normal to want to be vegetarian but worry about the reaction?

I'd really like to at least try being vegetarian but my family (spouse and kids) wouldn't be accepting of the change. I don't want to force them to change but I am the cook of the family and I don't want anything to do with meat anymore. At least not *every day*. It wouldn't be so bad once in a while but I don't feel good about eating meat every single day, nor do I want to be part of buying it and preparing it.

is it normal to be overwhelmed over the probable reaction and difficulty?

Yeah, it's normal. If they want meat, though, they can cook it themselves.

  • In your situation it impacts on other people around you. It's very considerate of you to take that into account.

Vegetarianism isn't something you can incorporate easily. It takes preparation and planning.

I know a family that uses quorn mince in their spaghetti and nobody can tell the difference.

    Small steps first

It's your life, your body. Don't let them hold you back. They should respect you for the choices you make.

Check out Meatless Mondays (Google it), see if your family is up for it, and maybe just go from there? Good luck!
