Is it normal to want to be in a porn movie?

Don't you have to be able to like, cum on command for porn?

I live near the San Fernando Valley of California, the hub of the porn industry, so though I have never worked in it, it's inevitable to learn a little more about how it works than someone who isn't so near the business industry, so here's a little of my two cents for what it's worth.

I suppose it's normal and exciting to fantasize about it, but if you're seriously thinking about doing it, there's a lot of things you have to take into consideration:

- Reputation: how will be judged by other people who are in or will be in your life? Think of family members, future employers when you change careers, etc.

- Romantic life: if you ever want to have a serious, committed relationship it will have to be with an extremely understanding person who understands "work is work" but you love that person, and you will have to do a LOT to go the extra mile proving it, plus what will your kids think/go through?)

- Health: you have to look out for you - many porno films require condom use, but some don't, and that's obvious in the film when they're not using one. Your health is your responsibility and the possibility of contracting an STD is ridiculously high.

- Upkeep: you will have to work out regularly, which isn't so bad, but you will be required to do a lot more than the average person. You also be employed based on your employer's particular genre and what their audience likes, so if you don't physically fit the bill, you won't get the job.

- The reality of the business: since many more males want to be in porn than females, the females have a lot more say over what, where, when, etc., usually get paid more and treated as slightly more valuable. You, on the other hand, do what you're told when you're told. And either way, you're not there to enjoy yourself, you're there to make their movie. There will be cuts, several takes, things filmed out of order, and "fluffing" (I hope you know what that means, and if you don't, you are not informed enough to even think about possibly being in porn, there's so much more to it you will discover that will freak you out in the not good way). Speaking of which...

- Other things you might be asked/required/contracted to do:
- fluffing
- types of porn you're not exactly into (even if you aren't doing things with other people, you may have to do them for that audience, and you have to be comfortable with that)
- promotions for the company (showing up at strip clubs, etc., and sometimes performing)
- fit into the character profile they create for you
- promoting and/or using products of their sponsors
- having your character and likeness marketed into such products
- them having the right to do whatever they want and say whatever they want about your character

And, just a side note...

You will NEVER be employed to work with minors in any way.

And there's a lot of other unpleasantness that goes along with this profession, just like all other professions. You'll find that if there is a balance of great, there's an equal balance of not-so-great. Just do your research on the brass tacks of the business if you're serious.

It is fairly normal- I mean it IS a profession after all. Just remember that porn doesn't pay well unless you're a really big star, you can only do it till you get too old for it because it's appearance based, and most guys who do porn have to turn gay to make a living off of it.
So basically, it's not the best career choice.
