Is it normal to want to be alone....

Hi there.

I blog too much about everything in Facebook, but I guess I might share this question with the world and see what I get back as a feedback.

Every day of my life, I want to be alone. It's just something I have always done. I listen to music, watch TV, read, and write...and I'm somewhat content with it. I wish I knew the real reason why as to why i want to be alone. For the most part there could be so many reasons, but I've come up with none (which i guess is good)....but is it normal to want to be alone?

Become a truck driver. I'm pretty introverted and started driving all over the country for weeks at a time all alone. I don't think I've ever been happier in life. I love solitude. Plenty of people just like you out there. Don't let others convince you that you have a problem. Live how you want and do what makes you happy and content. "Only a true introvert knows what it feels like to be the most alone, while in the company of others."

  • its not depression if being alone makes you HAPPY... duhhh and ps im the same way, being with people just makes me pissed off... theres a couple exeptions like my 2 best friends, but they dont even know eachother so i can acully only hangout with 1 person at a time... so other than that i too prefer to be alone, listen to music, draw, watch movies, and chillllllllllllll its totally normal

Some people are outgoing and others are more introverted like yourself. There's nothing wrong with you it's simply part of your personality that you cannot control. Don't over think, just enjoy being alone.

I LOVE my me time. There is always someone at the house. I love the scarce hour or two when I'm alone. And yet I like having them around too. Just not 24/7.

I do too. But I like the alone part for me mainly because I don't like to deal with idiots (my personal opinion about the world, sorry).

It's good you have a balance of both. But it seems you enjoy the company more than the 1 or 2-hour solitude. That's cool.

Yes, it's normal, just like it's normal to not want to be alone all of the time. It's just your personality type.

I too enjoy being alone. Some people say it depression, I really doubt it, I am just that comfortable in my own company and am intelligent enough to keep myself busy rather than getting bored and having to rely on being entertained by others.

Well, statistics shows that it does somewhat correlate to depression, but even being the psych major I am, I doubt it. And you're right. People enjoy being alone and so do I. Doesn't make me a bad person.

In a sense, we all are always being entertained by others.

      Think about it.

Wanting to be alone = more time to Jack off
    Jacking off = no gf
no gf = lots of reading and games.

    In summation:

alone time + jacking off + reading and games / no gf = your current situation.

I love being alone! I just don't 'get' the concept of loneliness as it is not an emotion I have ever felt. I don't particularly like people anyway. Someone once called me aloof and I actually thanked her for it as it meant that I was succeeding in my desire to be alone. Social distancing? I practically invented it, darlings!

I like to be alone too. More comfortable on my own and can freely be myself without critisisms or negative judgement from others of how i am.

I do see friends from time to time. But people don't really get me (not surprising lol) but maybe if others accepted me for who i am rather than wanting me to fit in with them i may just hang around with people more, perhaps not.

    who knows.

    each to their own.

I think it's pretty normal, some people just enjoy being independent. If it's what you're comfortable with, do whatever you want.
