Is it normal to want to be a scene queen?

I love the scene style. I love tattoos and peircings and having crazy hair. I'd love to be a scene queen but I'm still sort of shy. I would love to know if it is normal to be so obsessed with the scene culture and to want to be a part of it.

I thought the "scene" trend died in like 2009. But if that's what you like go for it.

Enjoy the style if you want, but I'd personally stay away from tattoos because they are permanent for the most part.

I'll admit the scene style is pretty. However, you should consider a thinking over the tattoos and piercings. I'm sure you can still be a scene queen without those.

I just want to say that I already I have two tattoos and a face piercing. These so far haven't prevented me from getting a job. Plus I'm already going to and art college for photography.

I also wanted to add that I have always thought over my piercings and tattoos. I love all of them and I wouldn't get them removed. And even if I wanted to, the piercings are easily taken out.

I say do it. I used to be the shy type with no friends. Then i slowly turned into a goth, then punk, then deathrock. At one point i had 18 piercings, crazy hair and now i have tattoo sleeves. I did become what you call a scene queen. If anything it gave me a tonne of confidence, boys fancied me, i got friends. Now years later im not scene anymore even though i have tattoos my dress sence is totally chilled out and i have blonde normal hair. Boys dig it lol just please if you are doing it - dont over do it or it'll look stupid. If you need help or advice hit me with an email. I'll show you before and after ( write.to.anna.b (at) gmail (dot) com ) or help you how to do it. There are a few things to concider like getting a job later and how to hide tattoos and so on.

  • Be yourself. I can't stand it when people say "I want to be...". Dress how you want and be who you are, being real is better than being something else.

I used to label myself that (accept for the Queen part). I say go for it! Be whoever you want.

I tend not to get on with scene kids - many seem to think they have problems and are special when they don't and aren't. But I'm sure there are nice ones that just like the fashion and music. If you think it'd help you come out of your shell and improve your self-esteem go for it, just don't do anything irreversible in case you discover it's not for you.

The scene trend isn't dead by any means, I see a lot of people still dressed like that at certain shows I go to. I'm a guy but I used to be scene-esque from ages 15-17, it kind of fades away for a lot of people as they get older. I still listen to pop punk all the time though.

    • It is dead. Hipster is the new scene. Everyone who was a scene kid has pretty much morphed into a hipster. Where do you live????

Hmm hipster is the 'new thing' but where i live scene is definitely still around, and they haven't really changed into hipsters

Michigan, hipster is extremely rare here except in a few cities like Ann Arbor.

That being said, scene is primarily a high school thing while hipster is something seen more commonly in college.

Not saying the scene trend isn't on a decline, but it is far from 'dead' here
