Is it normal to want to be a psychologist even though i need one?

I really want to be a psychologist but I fear that I may really need one to help me solve my problems.

That’s such a true statement. Also its very hard to see your own issues or know how to solve your own issues from your own perspective . I was given this advice from a friend , it is hard to Analyze your self . It is a lot easier to get advice from an outside perspective .

This is because you have to many conflicting views when you look at your self and you have none of those when asking other people . other people do not see what you think you are and what you want to be and what you think you have been . They see how you act and what happens and a wise person will put all the clues together and make a Theory of what they think the problems are due to observation and Experience .

Yes, its how most get into the field. Btw, you want a degree in social work not psychology( a psychotherapist is actually the term used in what most people think when they think of therapy).A psychologist does the weird mind tests with the silly ink blots ^.^.

The first step in helping anyone is knowing the place you are coming from. You must know yourself and the problems you face to be in the right emotional state to help anyone. We aren't all perfect but we all have strengths. Seek counseling if it will make you feel better.

I know what you meen. I to have felt like chooseing psychology as a profesion, yet I probly need one to resolve my issues.

Go for it anyway. If you want to do it, do it. Don't let your mental status convince you otherwise. Besides, you might feel better (what ever issues you have) once traind. Being a psychologist will not only change your view and the way you think about other people, it will change how you think and your view, about yourself. You also get a nice certificate to mount on your office wall.
