Is it normal to want to achieve in life?

I am interested to know what sort of things people consider an achievement. Are these achievements worthy if they aren't used to benefit other people? I just wondered if it's normal to want to 'achieve' something significant in your life?

  • the achievements that YOU make are important to YOU not anybody else. If it benefited anyone else then that's a plus but if you did want you wanted and succeeded then just be happy about it.

Benefiting others doesn't have to be like Mother Theresa. Do you think no one benefits when power is restored after a storm? You can do lots of things that benefit others even if you do get paid for it.

Achievements are considered good or bad by the people who decide them...

What I really want to achieve is to make a fully functional 3D game.

But in order to do that, I need to learn programming, modeling, animating and more.

I can't go to college because of my handicaps (got kicked out cuz of it) yet I still do not give up... Even if it takes my entire life, I will try to make one. I won't give up!

You see, achievements are significant or extraordinary not by the type, but by the journey. Obstacles (my handicaps in my case) mustn't stop you, if you don't give up holding unto your goal, and eventually you succeed... That is an achievement worthy of greatness. Even if it is small and/or only benefits you.

    Good luck!

After we've achieved out personal goals I think we can find a way to use the skills we've learnt to benefit others. Sometimes we take our own talents / skills for granted and assume everyone else can do the same things, which is often not true.

  • When you've helped someone with their life, you've achieved something.

To be selfless is to regain what we lost: Our humanity.

Everyone wants to be successful, and everyone has their own reasons. Some want the money and the billionaire lifestyle, other people have other reasons. I have other reasons.

I don't need any publicly-acknowledged achievement (Nobel prize, Booker prize, knighthood, etc) but I have private achievements that I tick off. Some don't benefit others, some do. But I think it's necessary to strive for something. In fact, I think it's the meaning of life.

I drank a 15 pack by myself in one sitting. Took me three tries, three nights and 45 empties later but on the third night of getting drunk I did it. Im even telling my grand children about this. While were on the subject, my friend once shotgunned a king can. 710 ml of shit ass beer just gunned down like a champ. I tell people I dont know this story so might as well share.
