Is it normal to want something to be wrong with me?

My friends are all pretty messed up, and either depressed or insane and I'm just watching their lives and trying to help out whenever I can, but is it normal that I want my life to be messed up too?

Not normal and that's not the path of life you want to walk on.

Let your friends who are "messed up" serve as examples and warning to you on your choices and decisions in the future. Be grateful that you are not yet insane or depressed. Some people live batshit lives, and would do anything to lead a normal, peaceful life.

That said, I hope you'll continue to empathize and offer a sincere helping hand to those less fortunate in their lives.

I doubt all your friends are even messed up, they just want to seem that way I'd say. I know a lot of people like that...

You may feel left out but don't try to get your life messed up. And its true be carefull with what you wish for. You see when I was younger I wished something like my parents divorced or other disfunctional things to happen because that's what was happening with other people. It happened and it wasn't a very smooth transition. It happened like 6-8 years after I first "wished" for it. Every thing worked out for the better but I would never wish that apon anybody. I would wish for people to have well adjusted happy family's. Just be glad your fine

I think in THIS sort of situation it's normal, I guess if all your friends are insane and/or depressed you're the odd one out. They do something random and insane but you don'T join in, you just act like... uh... a normal person. You're friends cry, when you offer them help, they cry even more.
I can see where you're coming from, you don't want to be the only sane person, you just feel like giving up and joining in.

  • It's really easy to get your life messed up. Just go to a biker bar, punch the biggest guy there in the face and see what happens.
