Is it normal to want something bad to happen to me?

I often think about going blind or deaf, or both. Or losing a leg. I know that it’s an awful thing, but I can’t help but want it to happen...do others experience this?

This is a phenomenal called "Lappel du Vide" or Call of the Void and its a psychological experience our brain has when we imagine the worse case scenario and so we wish to act on it because the certainty of knowing is easier on out brains than not knowing.

Like when you want to throw your phone in a lake for no reason or feel the urge to push someone onto a train track. Its just a thing out brain sometimes does. Look it up, its pretty cool. (Just don't act on any of this.)

No, it's not normal. I used to drive to work in the morning, and wish a drunk driver would crash into my car and kill me though.

Well, you must ask yourself, would you enjoy it? If you think you would that's quite nice, but if you know it's bad and you would like to do it, it's not as nice (quite bad, and you should stop thinking like that).

You do know what'll happen if you do lose your eyesight or limbs, right? Someone else will have to take care of you and support you financially. They'll feel dead inside, resent you, see you as a burden, and abandon you. It's not a good thing to wish for, so please don't act on it.
