Is it normal to want boyfriend to gain weight?

I just wish my boyfriend had a better physique upper body wise. He has a small physique for his age and height. A woman likes to feel protected when in her man's arms right? He trys to work out his arms to build some muscle but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions on how I can get my bf to gain some weight.... In a healthy way?

Let him be who he wants to be, not who you want him to be

Some people are unable to gain weight or a variety of reasons. You should let him be himself and not something you want him to be.

Quite a drastic change to manipulate onto someone, isn't it? I can't help but notice you're saying you met him in such a state- you do realize that makes this even meaner, right? So what, did you look at him and go "I can change that"? Do him a favor and cut him lose if this bothers you.
If he tried to get you to lose weight because he thought you were fat how would you feel?

Precisely, I know it sounds mean but I this chick is a manipulative codependent type. This guy could stand to lose some weight; lose however many pounds she weighs!

I'm not a housewife type but the only thing that I find that works is to cook meals that he can't resist.

Honestly my man looked like he came out of a prison of war camp. He'll never look pudgy but at least he now looks like he's eaten a meal in the last week.

He will probably run away- that's what I did when my last girlfriend tried to change everything about me because I wasn't what she wanted me to be.

I think you might be a little consumed with the gender norms. Yes, I do think it's common for women to want men with strong physique. But that doesn't mean it's right.

If the genders were reversed, and say a man wanted his girlfriend to lose a couple of pounds, many people would speak out and say that there was something wrong with that, including myself.

I also think a lot of people use "health and fitness" as an excuse to let people be shallow. Sometimes it IS a real concern, but there's millions of people of all different shapes and sizes that live long lives with a great sense of fulfillment and happiness.

You can't force him to change. He has to do that on his own. But if you want him to change in the first place, I think you need to re-evaluate your relationship. You might have a strong emotional connection, but physical attraction does matter to a certain point as well.

He should lose weight. How much do you weigh?

He might not be able to gain weight. Just let him be and decide whether you want to love him and date his as he is. Also, as someone who is hopelessly skinny, I can assure you that it's always insulting when your BF/GF suggests you gain some weight.

He should eat more to gain weight and lift weights to build muscle. Make sure he eats a lot of meat. Also some people aren't naturally "bulky" and he may just be that way.

He just has a bird chest and really scrawny arms for his height and upper body. It's not my fault I like to feel protected.
