Is it normal to want a eating disorder ?

I am 18 and I weigh about 95 kgs(I'm Aussie so I think for you Americans it's probably 180 pounds) I have tried to lose weight but it didn't work so I tried just not eating at all and lost a couple of kilos(pounds). Is it wrong/normal to want a disorder so I can be skinny again! I have a few friends who I would class as having eating disorders and I think they look good. I just want to be skinny!

Fuck no! Lose the weight in a healthy manner. Eat healthy and in moderation. also excercise at least an hour a day, and cut our obvious things like dessert and sodas

It's normal but ignorant. I think when people say they want an eating disorder what they really want is to be skinny....but an eating disorder is a disorder of the mind that you obsess over day in and day out and nobody would wish it upon theirselves.

Trust me, you don't want to have an eating disorder. Once you have one, even after getting help for it, in a way you'll always have it. It will be there in some dark corner of your mind, waiting for that perfect moment when it will remerge at a time you'll least expect. Ever heard the saying,"The grass is always greener on the other side"? Well, for this it rings true. The cons make it not worth having.

I'm not going to yell at you or call you a retard for thinking what you're thinking because honestly, you probably don't know any better. And besides, even if you do end up with the eating disorder you're wishing for, chances are it won't even help you to become slim. Or if you do manage it, you won't maintain that weight. Trust. You'd be better off wishing for a intestinal parasite if you really wanted a sure-fire way of losing weight in a dangerous manner.

You can't just make yourself have an eating disorder. People with eating disorders didn't just wake up one day and think, "Hmmm I do believe that today is the day I will develop an eating disorder!" It is a psychological disorder. The thoughts and emotions that go along with having anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and even binge eating disorder or compulsive overeating are distorted and cause the sufferer immense emotional turmoil. Google eating disorders and read the personal stories of people that suffer through every day of their lives with these disorders and you will see how much pain they are in. It's not only about weight loss for them, it takes over their whole lives. Wanting to lose weight is not bad, but saying you want an eating disorder is insulting to those that suffer. I'm not trying to attack you and make you feel bad. I just urge you to educate yourself on the severity of what having an eating disorder is truly like so that you don't unknowingly insult the people that suffer with it every day. It's not at all glamorous like the media portrays it to be.

TRY THIS!!: drink a few glasses of water before meals. Most of the time when we feel hungry, we are actually just thirsty. Eat your meal slowly and drink water with your meal as well. Try to follow the food guide and get all of your nutrients. Finally, try to exercise for at least 30 mins 4 times a week. Get into a habit! Try the stationary bike at the gym, it's great for cardio and working up a sweat.... And it's kinda fun too! Anyways... Take my advice and try drinking more water. Worked for me!! The pounds will fall off fast combined with a good diet and some cardio :). Just remember you are beautiful no matter what weight you are

I understand how you feel. I'm not overweight, but I think super skinny girls are very pretty. I have been wanting to have an eating disorder for some time now, but I'm too scared. I don't think you should do it and I don't think I should either. But I do understand what you're feeling.

I was like you about this time last year. And i suceded in losing the weight but in a healthy way. I looked up this diet on the web it is called the relaxed way to loose weight. Get 11 hours of sleep you burn alot of calories while you sleep. Every morning eat 1 bowl of cereal and a green apple. 1 green apple burns 10 calories. Eat your usual dinner and for snack time eat oat cakes. You can have 10 oat cakes a day. Oat has special vitiams which double the of fat you burn. Walk 1 mile a day and for a treat you can have 3 deserts a week. Keep it up for 2 months. Good luck this diet worked wonders with me. I lost just under 2 stone because of it. Before i 10 stone. Im now 8 stone and 5ft3.

  • Loose it, but in a controlled way. It isnt good for your organs if you have a disorder, the shock is not good for your body, exersize aan eat healthy, I suggest stomoch crunches and a running machine

  • Seriously? That's stupid. There's way better ways to loose the weight. I agree with the healthy eating and daily excersise. Sodas are a big thing for most people at least, people don't realize how bad they are for you!

I agree... I've always wanted an eating disorder! But my mom is both anorexic and bulimic... And I've seen the daily he'll she goes through dealing with it. Trust me, the cons FAR outweigh the pros.

Anorexia kills the most people out of any psychological disorder. Also, bulimia and anorexia is nearly the same thing. Anorexics are just successful, bulimics are not.
