Is it normal to want a committed and trustworthy companion ?

I hear people say that they want committed relationships; yet most of my friends cheat on their significant other.

I'd like a partner who will stay with me through thick and thin; sickness and health; best-friend, lover, and confident.

Is this normal ?

this is very romantic, but, to be fank, you dont want to be stuck with the same person all your life, even tho you might be thinking that at first. I myself would wish for an open realtionship, of course, with certain boundries, but without the hard feelings if it dosent work out.

That's sweet. I believe everyone truly does (even the cheaters, liers, whores and theives) most people just get overwhelmed and/or mentally wrapped up in their own heads and forget about the damage they are doing to others. Deep down I believe everyone is after the same thing. People just choose different ways of finding it. ('It' being whatever it is we are all after)

people cheat bc they arent for eachother.. if they were they wouldn't being cheating! unless they're on drugs when they cheat.. that no longer makes that statement true.

and yeah, how could you not think that's normal? i know i wish i could find someone i could be completely compatible with me.

It's unfortunate that you could be lead to think that this isn't normal, as it obviously isn't a reflection of what we see around us the majority of the time. That's all I want too. I've been thinking on it recently as my friends boyfriend happens to be one of the nicest guys in the world and she's cheated on him twice. I don't understand why those who have what others crave don't see the worth in it. (And just to clarify I don't want her guy, just a nice one) :p

It is sad that you even ask this. What is not normal is how people don't act upon it (as you described).
