Is it normal to want a career before a relationship?

I was just curious to see how others percieve this, wanting a career before a relatiohsip. I'm trying to focus on school now but seems every time i meet a guy i just want ot be friends and they always want to be more than friends. so is it normal to want to wait to date till after you have a career set and in mind. I mean i can't control my heart but as of now i don't want any one to distract me and keep me form my studies.

How about setting boundaries. You can date within the boundaries you establish. If it gets beyond that, ie. too serious or becomes a distraction then you exercise mature boundary function and just say no to it once it is no longer within the boundary area that adds value to your life. You have permission to be happy now.

    That’s a smart choice.

A career is a once in a lifetime opportunity now... relationships are fickle, fleeting and a downright pain in the ass.
    careers > relationships always.

Wow! I'm impressed that there are still sensible teens out there and they're not all bed-hopping searching for love.
