I never used one until my son was almost 2 yo and thought it was funny to run out between 2 parked cars onto the main road while I was opening the car door :o( The passenger in the car, that just missed him, went white coz she thought they'd hit him. I threw my bags over the top of him to stop him going any further but I nearly fainted in the street coz I thought he was dead!
Think whatever you like but just wait until you have an unpredictable toddler!!
It's NOT a dog leash. It's a safety device to ensure kids don't run off on their own.
Yes some people will have a knee-jerk reaction and think "OMG ABUSE" ... but that doesn't make it so.
I mean seriously... Even the best parent gets distracted sometimes and ZOOM ZOOM junior's off like a bat out of hell. This just means the parent has a chance to notice and stop it.
cos hey little children do NOT understand running off can be bad. I'd much rather see a parent with a child-coil than see a kid zoom off into a busy parking lot or snatched by a stranger
This is really wrong! Leases only belong on furry pets, hot women and the elderly!
I PUT my kid on a leash. Feed, water him too. Tie him outback by the tree and let him get some sun. He's my favorite pet. Lol I'm kidding. Who the Fuck would put a kid on a leash? Bad parenting right there.
STUPID. You gotta train your kids from the moment they can understand things...I was never a crazy kid who had to be put on a leash and neither were any of my 3 siblings 0.o my mom thinks theyre stupid as well...what are they? dogs?
Some kids are just really hyper and like to run away all the time. They do serve a purpose, however, I can see how it looks strange. I kinda get a kick out of it, makes me laugh.
I agree that it doesn't look very good, but they serve a purpose.
Me and my siblings had them when we were really young, and if we weren't wearing them we would just run off into roads and peoples gardens.
And they're not leads they're reins.
i can remember them when i was younger but i never see them any more, its s o the kid doesnt run away when the mum isnt looking and get knocked down or stolen or something
When I first saw those, I was like WTF? But some kids are little monsters who will just take off if they aren't held back. They are also for kids who behave and their parents don't want to carry them or push a stroller. It let's the kid walk around without wandering off or being kidnapped. Like liiiaaa said, better safe than sorry.
I agree with you. It's wrong, cruel, and shows a disregard for the child's freedom, dignity and even humanity that's just plain shocking. I've never seen it, and if I do, I may well give the abusive control-freak parent who does it a piece of my mind. There oughta be a law.
I had the same idea until I saw on some news program how easy it is for a child to be taken. This man (from the show) went into a store, picked up a random child and put him over his shoulder. At this point, the child was screaming and he simply said "You wait till your mother gets a hold of you." and no one said a thing. Of course he returned the child after but it goes to show it's better to be safe than sorry.
I was put on one when I was a kid. I never minded at all. It isn't a bad thing, and as a kid I can't really remember caring about it at all. What is so disturbing about it?
Cause with the messed up world we live in... Kids cant just go off exploring like they used to...
