Is it normal to wake up various times throughout the night?

I never sleep without waking up from start to finish. like I went to bed at 2:30. and woke up (opened my eyes, you know was awake), at like 5, and 10, and 1. didn't wake up like get up out of bed and start the day, until 2:30.

is it normal that I never sleep from point A to B without waking up?

Have you ever had a sleep study? This is a common symptom of sleep apnea.

It is not normal for an average person but if you are an architecture student or an architect then yes, it is very normal to have such breaks in your sleep.

What I do is when I go to sleep I don't say "I need to sleep" and force myself, I let my mind wander for a few hours and I sleep peacefully.. but I know reading helps a lot of people, and excersizing (just a few pushups or something) music tends to pump you up or make you sad so don't do music, although for SOME odd reason heavy metal (like..skillet, not screamo) relaxes me..I DONT KNOW WHY its weird... huh maybe I should ask...
