Is it normal to wake up shaking and having a sleep paralysis monent?

Okay. Sometimes when I go to bed I sleep for about half an hour and wake up in the middle of the night and I can feel my self shaking violently, not able to move or speak, and hearing random noises, and I can see and I am consious. This can be sleep paralysis but there can be something else going on. Is it normal? Have you had any past experiences like this!

I had this (similar) thing happen last night, actually. It was blood sugar related though. Although I often have anxiety-nightmares, where I believe I'm in a coma-like state and cannot move but am awake/conscious - just cannot move, until I fully wake up.
But last night, I woke up doused in sweat, shaking, dizzy etc - right before waking, I felt like I couldn't regain any feeling. The heavy feeling in your arms, many explain. When it feels as though your mind is awake/body is in a form of 'sleep'. But it was a diabetic-shock, I believe (after consultation) after eating and getting carbohydrates in, I was able to feel OK enough to sleep, again ;It could be anxiety related. But just in case, try eating once you awake in this state (if it's a blood-sugar issue, blood sugar drops it's lowest nearing 3-5am) So make sure you eat properly, before bed. I doubt it's a 'diabetic-issue' like mine, but you never know. I'm not diagnosed, I just have every symptom. Even though I'm 25 and 115pds. So it may be something else, either way get checked out.

with sleep paralysis your not supposed to be able to open your eyes, my friend has it. Go get checked out for seizures you might need some meds, My other friend takes meds and if she skips her meds thats what happeneds. its not normal so go see your doctor get checked for seizures! (:

I don't think this is normal and you should probably see your doctor to be sure.

A friend described a similar situation to me, apparently it was terrifying. In his case it turned out that it was simply that his blood sugar crashed severely while he was asleep. He's not diabetic, he's actually very healthy, but he had been exercising strenuously and had forgotten to eat anything since breakfast. Since then he's remembered to eat meals on time and in proportion to his level of activity and has been fine.

If this sounds eerily similar to your situation, that might be your fix. If that's not it, or it happens again see your doctor.
