Is it normal to wait for your perfect job in a couple of gap year?

Is it normal to wait on a couple of gap year, and stick on your freelance jobs (which not earn much money) to keep the time so you will have the right moment to chase and grab your dream full time job?
I mean, if I try to find some good salary job, most of it will come with a contract for a couple years, and that means I can't quit my job to chase my dream perfect job, except if I pay for a huge amount of money so I can get out with a good relationship with the HR department.
So, I try to keep the time by not applying to any full time job and improve myself so I can be a fit candidate for my dream job.

Does this "dream job" even exist?
These days people need to understand that so many are out of work and there is so much competition for each job, that even if your "dream job" did come around, would you get it?
I would take an acceptable position that will support me well and do my best to enjoy that position until something better, that you CAN get, comes along.

Thanks for your comment. It's straightening my mind. I just keep on convincing myself that I will get that "dream" job. I do realize that there are tight competitions out there to get a particular job. But this passion to get that dream job is keep on haunting me. Sometimes I wish that I can shut my passion off so I can get along with reality that I must grab the closest opportunity and do my best until, just like you said, something better that I can get is coming along. Really, thanks a lot for your comment so I can tidy up my mind.

However, I never said don't dream. Strive for that perfect job, and if it ain't out there, well in time, perhaps you can create it for yourself; wouldn't that be the perfect world?
        Good luck.

You can quit any job but you have to give notice.
