Is it normal to use wax as a way of keeping warm while naked?

My friend and I were sat in a pub pouring wax from the centre-piece candle on to our hands. We then began to wonder if this could be used as a sufficient way to retain one's body heat if you found yourself naked on the arctic tundra with nothing but molten candle wax. What are YOUR thoughts?

The wax would warm you, but in the "burning" sense.
Then, the cold would probably cool it to the point of hardening which might of a bit of peace for your burnt and red flesh.

This might be kind of off-topic but this reminds me of BDSM when they pour molten candle wax on their session buddy....

I read a book when I was a kid that had native americans using bear grease to coat their skin for warmth in winter. But the book was fiction so I don't know if it was made up by the author or if it's something that was actually done.

Honestly if you were trapped in such a cold environment, if you had no other shelter the best thing to do is literally bury yourself in the snow, or make a shelter if you're able.

It will retain your body heat and keep you warm. Igloos yo. And that's how sled dogs sleep, just dig in and curl up.

  • It would work if you were totally stoned and had nothing better to do...

I heard using lotion helps keep a layer of warmth around your skin, but I'm not sure about wax.

Wax would cool too quickly and all heat would be lost, plus the wax would only be burning your skin and the heat wouldn't reach your core. The only way I could see this could possibly work would be if you covered your entire body in wax and it acted like an insulator. Hmmm, I'll try it and let you know.
