Is it normal to use psychology as a tool?

Hey, fun fact, this started out as a desire to change after this temporary manager mentioned something about wearing masks.

A desire to become a better person became my goal. This led to a frame of mind where I look at myself from a second-person perspective and I behave under the influence of what I know of group psychology.

I use this to influence ideas on others ( nothing determinantal of course, I'm still learning to apply it ), disperse my social anxiety, controlling my emotions for my health.

So I've made serious effort for the past month or so to really be the person I want to be, like being nice, gaining camaraderie with the entire store of which I'm a manager.

This is normal. I'm currently in high school and take psychology classes in which I've learned to do the same things you're describing and it really does help my issues. I'd say if anything, this helps you become a better person.

    • I find mirroring's role on the personal and group level very interesting, both as an evolutionary trait for survival and for social conduct.

It's strange when you spot it happening. It always makes me want to stop whatever it is I'm doing if I realise someone's mirroring me. Have to consciously try to not be conscious of it, to not ruin the flow of interaction!
