Is it normal to use lines from video games?

I've noticed I quite often talk to myself (in my head, not out loud) using lines from video games.

For example, if I'm gonna make coffee I may say "I think I need a good cup'a java" (Heavy Rain), or when I'm confused I say "What... the hell?" in Henry's voice (Silent Hill 4).

Am I the only one doing this? Is it normal?

  • Have you ever played Skyrim and heard Farkas say, "watch it there, sister!" if you accidentally strike him? It is so great. His tone of voice sounds so sassy so I mentally say "watch it there, sister!" in Farkas's voice if someone offends me or something.

You are not the only one.

  • Yeah, me, too. When my brother hit a wall I said to him "You punched your last boulder, Chris". -Albert Wesker.

Normal. My friends, family, and I usually do this but with lines from TV shows like Archer or Spongebob.
