Is it normal to toast a bagel and then cut it in half?

So I developed this way of cooking bagels and I want to see if other people have done it.

Basically, instead of slicing the bagel in half and then toasting it, I like to toast the whole bagel and then cut it in half. The inside is warm but soft, and the outside is nice and toasty!
