Is it normal to to smell books?

I have the tendancy to smell books and i wont buy them unless they smell good. I think the book will only be as good as the paper it's printed on so it might as well have a fresh smell. I've smelled the twilight books but the paper was not so good smelling. And i wont read it on my own will if it smells bad either.
Is this normal?

That's funny, rating a book's quality based on how it smells. I don't read as much as I have to, i just can't seem to have time to do so but when I happen to be in a book store, I check the book but it was rather rare for me to smell it. As far as I can recollect, the first and last time I smelled a book was in our private library, it was nice though.. the smell of an old book is just amazing. It's like the entire lifetime of the author has been printed on those brown, rotting pages.

Uh, I can't really say if it's normal or not. I think everyone smells books from time to time, but you mentioned you won't buy them if they don't smell good. Just curious, did these books that didn't smell good cost a lot of money?

I know wat u mean about the smell, but you're missing out on books with a really good substance by doing that...

  • So you will read it will someone else? as opposed to reading it by yourself? Who would do that?

  • Haha I love the smell of new books. Even though twilight sucks don't not read a book just because it smells bad. You may be skipping over a future favorite book. I would say your normal enough though
