Is it normal to tie a tie any way you like wherever you go?

I'm thinking of those school days and getting paid to do philosophy, or, otherwise wear the school tie, tying the tie my way and not the school's way. I feel it's OK to break the rules, I'm very idealistic with my knots. So everywhere I go, whether to restaurants, weddings and functions, I tie my tie any way I like beforehand and not in the popular way, is that normal?

    no thats not normal but ties make for great napkins.

    I tie mine once, and keep it that way. Loosen, hang on hanger, put back on as-is.

        Been doing that for years. About the only time I re-tie them is when they need to be dry cleaned. Then it's right back to tying and hanging..Easy on, easy off.
