Is it normal to think weed is overrated?

No offense to people who smoke it, but I find weed a bit too overrated. Everywhere I look and go weed seems to dominate everything. It's like alright I get the point how weed is the most amazing plant along with all the benefits it has to our society. I do agree with that, but it gets annoying how people get so enthusiastic about it. No I have never tried it but even if I did I still think the same about it. It's just my perspective of weed.

I think it's still getting a lot of hype because it's not completely legal yet. People are trying to get the word out and get it legalized and regulated. Anything that gets all this attention is bound to get annoying so I understand how you feel about that. You really should try it before you assume your disposition though. I had a friend that was the same way. He pretty much hated it and then he tried it for the first time and now supports it's use both medically and recreational.

    • I know I didn't say anything about not legalizing it. I'm all for it legalized but it's just annoying like you said how everyone gets hyped up over weed. Yes I know I shouldn't assume something I haven't tried bad or good, yet I don't think I'm going to grow fond of it. Taking experiences won't always make people like it because we are human beings we think differently from one another.

You're right. I'm not saying you WILL like it after you try it. I'm just saying you don't really know 100% that you will or won't like it UNTIL you have actually tried it. But yeah hopefully the hype for weed goes away in a few years.

        • Ya I understand it's all good. As long as people respect my opinions I'll respect theirs. Yes I hope it does making my generation look awful. It probably will because we humans get bored with everything.

Could I please have your take on driving a space shuttle; I assume you haven't tried that yet either?
Or how about travel advice for Russia? Could you please tell us how to take out a gall bladder?
It's pretty silly to make decisions based on experiences you haven't had. Not that I'm not advocating you use pot, just saying you have absolutely no basis upon which to formulate an opinion.

    • Trying out different experiences doesn't necessarily mean we will always like it. The result in comparison, would be like a Christian making an atheist convert to their religion. They could like it or never want to convert.

With your logic, 95% of the world would be opinion less, empty, walking sounds, with heads up their asses.

Weed is indeed overrated. I am against drugs in the first place, you can flame the shit out of me, I don't give a crap. Most nolifers that smoke it are empty headed yet they still feel they have "right" to insult anyone who hasn't smoked it and are against it.

It is overrated and people who mostly smoke it are a bunch of morons.Yes i

Unfortunately, it is you who is insulting yourself by speaking about something you have absolutely no experience with.
IMO anyone who makes judgements based on no experience is the one "with heads up their asses." Perhaps it would be a much better world if your "95% of the world would be opinion less, empty, walking sounds, with heads up their asses." did not form opinions based on zero experience.
It's not even a guess; it's a silly statement backed only by hot air.
Nobody needs to call you a moron; you did that all by yourself!

No I have no experience with it, neither Do I have experience with movie making, game making, car creating, building, racing, shooting or what ever and I still can have my own opinion about it. Your logic is just flawed and using this argument which is old as the internet itself just adds to the fire and speaks volumes for itself. Wake up and try your "tough talk" when you grow some balls and stop wasting the money you were given on drugs and use it for education instead, lame brain.

I am in total agreement. I have gotten so fucking sick of how glorified drugs are these days. I mean, it's just sad. Truly, utterly sad that so many people are turning to drugs instead of simply enjoying life. I would NEVER wake up one day and decide to use them, and I have no idea why anyone else would. If you do them, fine, but what annoys me if the sheer amount of people who have to bring it up.

In my opinion, most people who do drugs have a gaping hole in their life that they can only fill with drugs - that's my hypothesis, and if they DON'T, they were pressured into doing them by "friends". Also, many stoners I've met online are very arrogant, thinking that they're more intelligent and peaceful people for smoking weed and frequently recommending it to non-stoners as if it'll really change the life an ordinary person. It doesn't matter that weed can't kill you. That doesn't come into the equation. I just find the whole idea trashy and unsophisticated. That's how it looks, anyway, so I don't know how anyone can feel proud of themselves for doing something that is perceived negatively throughout the world.

Some of them actually say that they are "proud" to be a stoner. Even if it was legalised, which I'm sure it will be this decade, I would never try it, and I see absolutely no point in doing so. I just don't get it. So yes, normal, because I am so sick of cannabis culture, it's one of the many cultures which are always in my face constantly online. And yes, I know I'm going to get bitched at for this by people who are going to defend their precious plant to the death.

Here we have another ignorant individual who hasn't smoked marijuana, therefore not understanding the effects the drug has on certain users and so on. How do you know people don't need this drug to live? Maybe the have a medical condition and require marijuana as a drug of choice.

      Comment Hidden ( show )
    • That's exactly how my perspective of weed is. Don't worry I'm already getting attacked more than you are about it.

As a sex addict that is together with a Cannabis addict I'M the one who suffers the worst from being without sex. My boyfriend only gets a bad case of sad for a little while and then he gets over it.

I believe that you are in your FULL right to decide that you don't like weed even if you haven't tried it. Just as there are some drugs that I wouldn't touch, Meth as one example.

I don't NEED to try Meth to have an opinion about it.

I smoke weed now and then, when others give it to me. I would rather not pay for more than ONE joint on rare occasions though since it's far too expensive for my liking AND alcohol gives me so much more.

Just as I want all drugs to be legalized to let stupid people do stupid shit I also want drug-users to accept and respect those who doesn't need/want to use substances.

If I KNOW that someone doesn't like drugs, I don't bring up the subject.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Here's the thing I don't get. People who smoke weed expect other people who don't, respect what they do, yet it's alright for them to insist non smokers to try it out and tell those non smokers their thought about it is unacceptable. Call me wrong, but that's what I have basically seen.

I've tried it, but I was not impressed. Not every drug affects everybody the same. And some people just love to have their minds altered by a drug. I once told a male friend that sometimes when I stand up too fast I get dizzy. He said he would love that - a free high. Seriously? You think feeling dizzy is a good feeling? And later I saw him huff, I guess you'd call it, from one of those cans of whipped cream. I think the gas in it just deprives you of oxygen or something. He said it gave a great, if brief high, and he laughed for 30 seconds or so after doing it. I have no interest in feeling like that. Now the feeling after a good workout where your endorphins are all good, that's a great feeling.

    Comment Hidden ( show )

    • Because I know how I am. It's that balky part of me. Plus people around me keep bugging me to try it which makes me not want to try it all. It's also a reason why I made such an assertion about it.

So it's the idea of people pushing you to do something that you're not interested in that bothers you. You don't know for certain whether you would enjoy the feeling. But it's like when everybody is enjoying a dessert that looks disgusting to you. You know it's fattening, and although you might like it if you tried it, you don't want to just because it looks bad. So yay, you don't waste your calories on that.

It's because it's not "normal" yet and as other posters have commented, you haven't tried it yet so you really don't know if all of the hype is true.

It's great shit and I love it but sometimes I think people get way too attached to the shit when in reality, it's not the end all be all to medicine or recreation.

It's only because it's illegal you see it everywhere. People are finally getting facts instead of propaganda. As soon as it's legal in most parts of the world it will just be there like alcohol.

  • And that's another description I'm told from each one of my friends. Since a lot of people tell me I should try it, I don't want to at all. Why should I try it besides that "amazing" experience you get? Because everyone does it? Why tell someone that doesn't like that do that? Because they don't know? Because their opinion is invalid? It's also like a rapist telling their victim you don't know until you try it......

Dude you know nothing about weed.Sure before i smoked pot i was with friends who smoked it and i may have seen the effect on them from smoking pot but you don't know whats going on inside their head. When i smoked pot it was mind blowing experience, you can not explain how it fully feels to someone lol,you truly do have to try it. Its more than what the person feels,it alters the way you think and see things while under its influence that cant be achieved with anything else. Its like saying you never ate meat before and say "I know what meat taste like because i see people eat it and they tell me it taste good so i know its taste now." That's how people who smoke pot see your comment....
