Is it normal to think this way about them?

Is it normal that I want people with severe mental illnesses to be killed? Well not necessary killed, just in the most humane way. The reason I think this way is because I think they have no use to society or any way to contribute to anything. Now don't get me wrong, I like to be around those people because I can get along with them fairly well. But please no hateful comments. I just want to see if it's normal and to see what you think.

  • No. It is an inhumane idea and reveals no respect for human dignity & human compassion nor regard for human rights among the ill. And since when did "contribution to society" become a test of life, and who judges that?

I fail to see how you could have so little compassion on one hand to say kill the ill, but "please no hateful comments" about your post on the other.

Think this through a little more.

*live* sorry. And who cares if they don't contribute? They have a life and they shouldn't give a stuff about people like you who tell them they don't have the right to be what they want just because they have an illness. What if the roles were reversed, you, illl and them, healthy and telling you you should die because your illness doesn't help anyone. 'no hateful comments' what's with that? Of course you will get hateful comments because your idea is selfish and idiotic. Sorry, but there.

  • I don't hate mentally challanged people. Never once did I say that. But I have given this some thought and figured that it wasn't right of me to say they to be killed.

Do you believe that the value of a man is the work that he does?

People weren't born to work. They were born to learn, love, and enjoy their lives. Work was just something that was added along the way.

Honestly, your views almost remind me of the way they ran concentration camps in WWII.

    Yeah... so not normal.

There are plenty of people who contribute nothing to society or even hurt society. Do you also think we should put them down? We also have many would-be-people whom would (possibly) contribute positively to society, but are never born. Quite an interesting situation we have.

    Penny for your thoughts, OP?

I don't think unworthy people should ever be killed because they don't contribute enough. There isn't anything wrong with being happy and not working; not everybody is ambitious. But in society, I think that a man is worth what he is able to contribute to society. However, I do believe the lives of ambitious people are worth more than the lives of idle people.
Scenario: I am the captain of a boat and only one more person can fit into it. Two people are drowning: one is a certified doctor and the other is a cashier. Who would you save?

I'd say the life of a doctor is worth more so I would save the doctor. However, this situation gets to be tricky when you compare engineers and doctors and lawyers and even teachers. But society does need some people more than others.

yes I agree with you, they don't give anything back it's useless. they just take up our limited resources
and have no chance to help the world in anyway.
