Is it normal to think there may be spiders in your shoes?

For some reason before I put on my shoes I always have to check them to b sure there are no bugs especially spiders in them. In our house we do not have a spider problem or a bug problem but I just get this insane thought that there could be some type of spider in my shoes that can bite me when I put my shoes on. Is this normal?

You only check your shoes?! Hell! I check my shoes, shake out my shirts and pants, and pull back all my sheets and blankets before I get in bed. I even look under and around the base of the toilet before I take a shit. I hate it when they sneak up on you while you're "taking care of business" especially if you're on the pot without your shoes on.

One time when I put my shoes on, there was something in one of them. I took it off and shook my shoe and a spider fell out! but since I put my shoes on I had crushed it, and it was slowly dying. It freaked me out though. So sure, it's normal, especially cuz you never know D:

I shake out my shoes even though we don't have dangerous spiders here. I just don't want smooshed spider on my foot.

Totally normal! I have been bit on the foot by a brown recluse spider before. I was very lucky I caught it immediately and got to the hospital. Have you ever looked at photos of how bad those wounds can get? One look at those, and you will see checking your shoes is normal!

I wanted to also share, here is a graphic map of areas where brown recluse reside in the US: http://pixdaus.com/pics/1240759039CUjzsKG.jpg

Anyway, just 'google' brown recluse bites. Although there are more spiders that can hurt you, I am merely mentioning brown recluse due to their notoriety and my own experience with the dealings of this spider.
