Is it normal to think the gym is boring

I think going to the gym and doing repetitive exercises is boring and makes me feel like a lab rat on a spin wheel. I don't understand when people say they like the endorphins just from exercising. Maybe I don't get those.

    Gym is not for everybody. Some people like team sports better, some people like athletics and fighting arts.

    You don't have to like gym, but it's no excuse -find something else that will keep you in a good shape.

    I definitely agree that it does sort of feel like you're a lab rat on a spin wheel because it's very similar. It's way more fun to jog outside in nature because it feels like you're on an adventure not to mention the air is more clean. I also just get annoyed at the loud obnoxious people who throw the weights around like they're badass.

    Once you're in good shape, you'll feel the rush (runner's high) and a need to keep up with your routine. It's actually more fun maintaining being in good shape than it is getting there. Maybe you're not exercising intensely/hard enough, if you're bored while working out. Or maybe try biking, swimming, dancing or another alternative to the gym instead.

    I don't ever feel bored unless i'm doing low intensity cardio, in which case music helps. but if i'm up and moving around lifting, or running on the treadmill, i don't get "bored".

  • I would run constantly if there was a free construction site around. No matter how old you get, you always want to climb, run and jump around a construction site.

  • The point of the gym is for fitness and health, You can go swimming if your gym has a pool. :)
    The people who usually go to the gym are either bodybuilders, people who do sports, for fitness, or for getting healthy! It's quite one of those things where if you do it now, it will benefit you in the future. You want to be able to support yourself when you're elderly correct?

    Go for a walk / jog around your neighbourhood. I like to exercise for a purpose like walking the dog or going to the shops. As long as you're actually out of the house and away from the fridge I think you'll lose weight and tone up!

    My husband hates joggers and when he sees one he says, "Ask him to run an errand for you and get ready for a mouthful of abuse!"
    He'd love to get the hold of some of these people with excess energy and put them to work for him digging / labouring.

    Some gyms are boring, some offer cool things to do, cool work outs. I know one of the gyms I went to had all of these really cool classes you could take, anything from jazzercise to kick boxing to zumba to spin class to just about anything they could gather enough people to do and they were all so effective.

    So it really does depend on the gym you go to, I'd say it's normal.

    • Lack excercise doesn't make you fat, it makes you physically fit. It's the amount of food and what types of food you eat that makes you fat.

        Yeah well whatever I feel as though the gym is very important in maintaining a healthy lifestyle so yeah.. Dont get fat please. Obesity is a vile thing in our society..
