Is it normal to think that radio is boring & ridiculously repetitive?

do you think it is normal to find it odd and annoying that almost all radio stations play the same songs by the same artists repeatedly for ten years or more, and that the ones playing new music are primarily just playing the most trendy and commercial stars of the moment? i'm pretty sure most people have noticed this, but i am in a minority in my dislike for most radio stations because of this reason?

i recently moved back to my hometown. sometimes i try to listen, but the exact same sh*t is always playing that was playing here when i moved away more than ten years ago. i think it's bizarre--do most people actually want to turn on the radio and hear the same songs over and over again until they die?????? and if not that, do they really just want to just hear the latest popwhores and nothing else?

I only listen to the radio really late when there are some interesting shows on with new music, unsigned artists and different genres. During the daytime radio generally sucks scrotum.

I'd recommend NME radio and BBC radio 6.

I don't listen to the radio, I only use my TV to watch movies, and even then not the current releases. Hollywood's gone to crap, TVs hone to crap, radio's gone to crap. The only saving grace for today's young people is the internet; so that they can experiment with different styles of music or film, eventually defining their tastes and making them more of a individual than a corporate tool.

But even the internet is changing, becoming more about sponsorship and corporations than about the quality of the content.

This thread makes me miss woxy.com (formerly 97X out of Cincinnati, Ohio)

There are a few decent radio stations in the USA though if you like alternative rock music.

CD101.com from Columbus, Ohio, an alternative rock station, solid playlist

89.3 "The Current" Minneapolis / St. Paul, Minnesota more of an indie rock bent http://minnesota.publicradio.org/radio/services/the_current/

wcsb.org Cleveland, Ohio a college radio station with various programs and genres of music

wruw.org also from Cleveland, Ohio, very similar to WCSB

    enjoy :)

I agree 100%... Personally I like to be in control of what I listen to anyway.

I HATE RADIO!! I actually don't mind all the cost invited from having an iPod and buying iTunes music because it's all the music I like and I can flip through anything I don't feel like listening to. I friggin hate radio....
