Is it normal to think that my parents are governing my whole life?

ever since I was small my parents have big expectations from me even though I know it is the same for everyone but I find it too much to handle since each and every member of my family is like an extra-ordinary being in their respective fields of education. I too have been pushed by my parents to live up to their expectations and it is constantly giving me a headache....I even purposely flunked my exams to try to make them understand but that's not helping either...is it normal to think like this??

Tell them that you're trying your very best - they'll just have to accept that you're no genius. They just want you to do your best so that you have no regrets later, or waste years trying to re-sit exams you should've gotten when you were younger.

If your parents are placing a lot of expectations on you it's because they know that you can succeed. They're looking out for what's best for you. I don't think flunking your exams was a wise choice since they still would have believed that you could've done better. I think that you should sit down and explain to them that you're trying hard to meet their expectations and added pressure is detrimental to your well-being.
