Is it normal to think that dark chocolate makes you lose weight?

I was offered some Godiva dark chocolate by my roommate. I really didn't want to take it because I'm trying to lose weight but it's hard to turn down and I ended up taking it. And had to take a bite (before going into my room and waiting awhile then heading out when the coast was clear and flushing it down the toilet). Anyway, common sense tells me that dark chocolate, or any form of chocolate doesn't help you lose weight but she said it did. So does it help you lose weight?

    The stuff that is the most healthiest is the kind that has no added sugars (sweeteners, it unless it is something like stevia or xilotol) or filler shit in general. Godiva, if I'm remembering correctly contains that shit, but you still shouldn't have flushed it down the toilet. It is a waste of your friend's money and it is not good for the plumbing.

    The oils in commercial chocolate may further to help cause digestive issues. There's an organic chocolate 5g of fibre and it used to be my go to for emergency bowel movement help.

    Dark chocolate will not directly help you lose weight, no, but it is a healthier alternative. Eating a few pieces per week = fine. Eating a few pieces a day = not good for you.

    Well dark chocolate is said to be healthy for you. However I don't think a ton of it would really be healthy. I forget what they said was in it which they said is good for you but I have never heard of it helping you lose weight. So maybe she just wanted to get you to try some.

    Flushing expensive dark chocolate down the toilet is sinfully stupid! You wasted your friend's chocolate that someone else could have enjoyed. There are people in this world who are starving and have never even had a Hershey's chocolate bar. If you wanted to not eat chocolate because you're watching your weight why didn't you just refuse it or return it to your friend?

    It is very healthy if organic. I remember reading studies on how it causes weight loss and I think that it is due to the caffeine.

    In the grand scheme of things, there are far worse things to snack on than chocolate, but then again I don't think it helps you LOSE weight either (other than satisfying a craving).

    If you want to be a complete purist, then no I wouldn't eat it, but having a piece every now and then probably wouldn't hurt.
