Actually one’s perception of time slows down as you get older. Studies have shown that people in their 20’s judge minute to be about 54 secs. Those in their 40’s are right on at 60 secs. And people in their 60’s judge a minute to be about 66 secs.

Then why do older people say life goes so fast when you get older? If time is actually slower for them?

Because when you’re older since time slows down, you can hardly believe it’s been 50 years since you were young.

Is there an explanation for waking up like a minute before an alarm goes off?

I'm fairly certain that has something to do with your body's natural clock knowing that it is the correct time to wake in order to avoid the horrificness that is the alarm blaring in your ears.

That’s right. It’s called Circadian rhythm.

Yeah but if I dont know when I fell asleep my body shouldn't be able to tell what time it is.

Not true. The subconscious is always awake. In fact, some neuroscientists think we remember everything that happens to us, somewhere.

              Oddly enough that is unnerving.

I believe this only applies to small durations as older people also experience years and decades as going by increasingly quickly. The proposed reasoning for this is that at 10 a year is an entire 10% of your elapsed life but this gradually dwindles to almost nothing.

Every 60 seconds in Africa, a minute passes. Together we can stop this.
