I just want to know how many people feel the same way almost every single person who says they are a girl on the internet is really a man, or a boy pretending to be a female. Like Massively multiplayer online games or MMORPGS really stand for Many Men Online Roleplaying as girls. Thoughts?
Sure, loads of people pretend to be what they're not on the internet. Still, I think you're slightly paranoid.
Haha, this reminds me of that time when I was 11 and pretended to be a guy on one of those lame chatrooms for fun.
I'm a girl, and I play MMO's....and every girl I've ever met on an MMO has turned out to really be a girl.
and i guess people like to be something different on games, because they are already themself irl, why would they be the same on a game when they can be anything at all

Well... It is online & people lie a lot. But, I think your being a bit naive.
Coming back to this 4 months older and wiser I am still surprised to find that only 45% of people on this site think that only a small portion of the woman or girls of the internet are real. I should rephrase this a little bit though, but there is no proper way to do it and to come out smelling like a rose.To simply put it Gamer/Internet Woman and Chicks are far and few between and Normal one even fewer. I am sure there are plenty of nice woman out there on the internet and gaming so far I have only met 3. ((as in developed a functional friendship with them.))
When I was younger I always enjoyed playing games related to WWII or whatever (Like Pearl Harbor, etc..) and anything related to planes and shooting people from the air. I used to play World of Warcraft, too, but I quit playing back in January. I never thought those caring for puppies/kitties games or those other games for girls were very interesting.
One place you can never hide is on Ventrilo (or other similar inability to hide ones voice) regardless of what kind of toon you've created :)
I'm a fem and LOVE to play Warhammer Online (against my brother in another state, and I whip him sometimes, which makes me laugh)
I also like Left4Dead and had a brief attraction with City Of Heroes.
Just because you're fem doesn't mean ya can't like to RPG or grab an uzi onlike to KATN!
After a hard day it can be therapy.
Now in adult chatrooms, THAT might be another story.

People tend to tell the truth much more than telling lies because it's easier and because when you lie there are potential other complications, like getting found out or, more relevantly, talking about women crap and having men chat you up online. These are things that would strongly discourage "female imitations" online.
Given this, I would say that 95 percent of women online are, in fact, women.

It depends on where you look. I'm a guy and I tend to play games like Team Fortress 2 (Well, used to as all I do now is study and I don't have time to play.) and 90%% of the people are men.
Then, my girlfriend plays on casual gaming sites like Slingo and Big Sea Games. I would say that the vast majority of the people who play here are either older people or women. Just be careful as Big Sea Games are kind of biased against men.
Here, I like to think it is more 50-50. I wish people would put a picture under their profile or at the least update their profile but judging by the comments, I can tell if they are a girl or boy and in the end; it still feels 50-50.
