I smoked some pot between ages 17 and 24. Ever since I stopped, I don't feel like my brain is as quick as it used to be before I did all that.
Perhaps it's just that I'm aging, or perhaps the drugs played a role. I don't think I have any way of knowing.
have any of you noticed that the only people who think weed is great and should be legalized etc etc are people that smoke it themselves and WANT it to be healthy?
I smoked weed for a fair while and although I don't feel like my intelligence/memory is affected by smoking weed anymore I did feel like it affected me a lot at the time. Especially my memory.
People who say Weed makes you stupid are usually just closed minded and probably not all that intelligent themselves ;)
Yeah, actually in the study about the brain cells, they gassed monkeys, basically had a big bubble over their heads and poured the chamber full of pot smoke for several minutes. The monkeys lost brain cells due to oxygen deprivation.
So... Yeah. The weed may have assisted in the process but it wasn't the direct cause.
First of all, a study was done on the cannabis plant showed that the plant doesn't contain any substance that kills brain cells, the plant it's natural and you don't need any chemicals to make it. Second of all, I've been smoking weed for 5 years now and I am a honor roll student and I'm going to college next year. You're just stupid, you probably smoked wet or meth and don't even realize it. Stop blaming weed for your actions.

Are you actively learning? Or do you just go to work, about your daily life with no mental stimulation to make you really think? Try a continuing education class in something... learn computer programming or something you've always wanted to learn languages etc... if you don't use your brain, new pathway connections between areas of your brain are not created and may actually sort of atrophy. Think of it this way once you learn to ride a bike you know it, the pathway is created and reinforced everytime you get back on a bike... now try a skateboard a different pathway needs to be created...

Pot does not have any mental effects besides dependency and the temporary euphoria it's known for. Many people who use weed completely succumb to the addiction, leading to the "jobless, stupid, irresponsible pothead" stereotype.
Depending on your lifestyle, it might be that since starting pot, you've grown more lax in other areas as well. It's an established fact that one's mental faculties rust when not utilized. It's entirely possible that you're "stupider" because you haven't been thinking or planning or reading as much as previously, and the pot merely sped it along.
Or you're just a dumb pothead. Either one.
