Is it normal to think quaisi- 90's pc is way past its shelf life

First of, by PC I mean that good ol' western buzz word, "Political Correctness" and not 90's personal computer, which IS really past its shelf life but I digress .

I personally believe that like all ideologies, modern liberal pc has progressed to a point where it stops making sense and has merely become a excuse for non western cultures to shout down any critique from a westerner or in any way projects a view that makes the western person in question look like he has too much respect for his own history, the tiniest affront and westerners have to bend over backwards, whereas non western governments and cultures can pretty much pull anything off and the majority of people will side with them because of some crime a person with too little melanin in his or her skin committed centuries ago

Westerners have to accept immigration
Westerners have no right to call Europe "Theirs"
Westerners in the US, south America Southern Africa and Australasia have no right to be proud of themselves because of what happened "in the past"

Non tolerant ideologies from non western countries must be accepted
Any human rights violation, war crime, or gross misconduct committed by non westerners in governance is all because of colonialism
And finally, anyone who questions this system is branded a "Racist" for expressing a view unlike that what everyone has been taught in school and university is the proper way to think, it really isn't that different from Stalinism, Facism or Religeous Fundamentalism really

Now if you think just spilling BS here, I highly recommend you google "South African farm murders" and particularly view the comments beneath the videos on Youtube

Am I a free thinker or just nuts, Iin?

I'm not sure you know what political correctness means. That's not an insult. I think a lot of people don't know what political correctness means.

"Political" "correctness" is about "correcting" discrimination caused by "politics". A view that is politically incorrect is therefore either pro-discrimination, or anti-change from existing discrimination. Political correctness is just tolerance, and being PC is just being a tolerant person. Anyone who is using the term "political correctness" to describe accepting discrimination in other cultures is not using it correctly.

The fact that "politically correct" is an insult baffles and saddens me. As does the negative use of "social justice warrior". There's something not quite right when people are shamed for fighting for justice.

PC here in the states is a different animal from social justice.

PC basically what the OP described. It started off as a means to promote social equality but it has evolved into a means for minorities to shame whitey for colonialism and white privilege. I'm not saying white privilege isn't real and that racism doesn't exist, but more often than not, PC is used as a shaming tactic, which is annoying and idiotic as in many situations, it's hardly relevant.

Social justice is a different term from PC here and it is what you described as PC.

It's used that way here too, by insecure conservatives who think any attempt at "political correctness" as I described it is a direct threat to them.

As far as my eyes and ears tell me, political correctness as you describe it does not even exist. It's a myth, as far as I can tell. I have never ever felt shamed, directly or indirectly, for being white or male or middle class, and I don't think my experience is unusual or a product of me not being in an American culture. I think it's a product of me being secure in my race, gender and class identities.

Ehh, it's more of a social thing and it's heavily implied. It's not something that I will fervently argue for because my feelings are not particularly strong about the subject.

Most PC is the government's attempt to put people into easy to classify, neat, little boxes, for it's own nefarious purposes, and not in the people's best interest.
I don't give a crap what your heritage is, what your religion is, or what color your skin is. If it's important to you that I know these things, then you can tell me, when we meet. So why must we be labeled by these things? If we are Americans, then isn't that a perfectly good and sufficient label? If we need a more in depth label, then we always have the state we reside in to further categorize us. Honestly, who needs more?

I never thought I'd read a post on IS IT NORMAL? from someone who actually bothered to think PCness all the way through, instead of just wholeheartedly accepting its false promises.

No, you're not crazy. Political correctness is crazy, the witch-hunt of the 21st century.

I think the term "political correctness" itself is way past its shelf life. It's more a slur than a meaningful criticism. Instead of calling something politically correct, explain what your specific objection is.

I can't agree more. My least favorite attribute of PC is that it is seen as rebellious or unique, even slightly racist, when I display pride in my Irish heritage. My ancestors were oppressed and faced much adversity in their home country and in America (we immigrated after the American revolution and we immigrated to the North before being driven out and forced west). But hey, we were white, so we had it easy, even though my second generation American ancestors were beaten and killed by bigots.

I find it disheartening that the difficulties faced by people of my heritage go largely unnoticed and unappreciated because we weren't white. Imagine how big if a shit head I would look like if I were to hold up the oppression and difficulties faced by my ancestors, who lived as recently as many slave ancestors, (some of them, mote recently) as high and minorities hold theirs.
