Is it normal to think people dont like me the second we meet?

it usually happens if i go out with just one friend and meet a new group of people, i just get a weird vibe that says "your an outsider who we dont know and you've just turned up" and i just think that everyone in the group except the one person i know thinks im a complete idiot... i wouldnt say im a stunner but im not ugly i have a girl friend, and am not socially awkward in one on one situations and find it easy to start a conversation. i just feel alienated in groups...
