Is it normal to think of yourself as attractive?

I don't consider myself a conceited or vain person but I do think I'm attractive and I like my appearance a lot. My body has flaws like everybody's but when I look in the mirror I think I'm fairly sexy. Is there something wrong with me, am I an egomaniac? I don't want to be conceited or stuck up.

I'm okay once I've had a shower. When I first wake up and I've got pillow marks indented into my face, sleepstuff in my eyes, mattress marks down my back, a bit of my hair stuck up, and a vacant "Why can't it be Saturday?" look, I don't think it's that great. Appealing it may be (like a puppy that's had a fight with a puddle of mud and lost), but sexy it is not.

Also, I'm still terrible at putting my contact lenses in so there are a couple of minutes directly after the shower where my eyes are burning and streaming tears and I have them firmly shut, walking around like a zombie, banging into things and chanting, "You bleeder. You bleeder. You mother-effin bleeder" at whichever of my eyes hurt most. If the miracle happens and they both go in with no noticeable discomfort then something else bad happens like I stand on an upturned plug or something. Oh, and I nearly always shave blind (in the shower) and that doesn't always go to plan. Either I'm left with eyebrows on my cheeks or a torrent of blood everywhere else.

Actually, I'm just a disaster. So, yep, maybe it's just you who likes the way they look.

Men want to be me, women want to be with me.

Yeah, I tend to think I'm quite attractive when I look in the mirror, then I'm disappointed when I look so bad in pictures. That makes me doubt whether what I see in the mirror is an accurate reflection of myself, or if I'm just totally delusional. Of course it changes, and sometimes I hate the way I look. My body is hardly perfect, and I rarely look very good, because I don't usually make much of an effort.

I don't think its egomania, and it doesn't sound like you're being vain. I suppose you can be described as vain if you try to flaunt your looks to everyone and act like you're better than everyone else. It's very normal to think that you are attractive, in fact its a very good thing! Better to be confident and comfortable with yourself than to hate yourself all the time, right? I don't see any problem here :)

  • Sorry, I was too busy checking myself out.

In all seriousness, it doesn't make you vain. Confidence does not equal vanity.

I personally believe I am attractive, and I like to look in the mirror myself and think "Damn, bro, take me". Lol.

I've been told I'm attractive, by multiple people. So I feel like I must look good.

Fun little fact: The human brain makes you see yourself 5 times more attractive than you really are.
But on a less depressing note - it's normal, it's not being conceited or egotistical by taking pride in your appearance, i guess the time it would be not normal is if you believed everyone is too ugly for you.

I think everyone should feel good looking! I feel I'm good looking too and no that's not being conceited.

  • I think most people think like this otherwise they wouldn't style themselves and get impressive hair cuts

I think I'm alright. I don't place a lot of value on my own appearance though, so even if I thought I looked terrible I don't think I'd really mind (that probably sounds a bit odd :P).

Not everyone can say they like what they see when they look in the mirror! It's a wonderful thing that you see a sexy creature staring back at you when you look at your reflection. It's what we call confidence...however, don't let it go to your head!

No; there's nothing wrong with you. You're not an egomaniac. It's a good thing you feel this way about yourself, and it's a whole lot better than those annoying people with low self esteem that constantly being negative about themselves and wants everyone to feel sorry for themselves. There's nothing wrong with confidence. Just as long as you don't let it get to your head and you're not putting others down because of it.
