Is it normal to think monogamy is purly a result of religion?

The more I think about, the more it makes no sense. Why from an evolutionarly perspective, would men only fuck one woman? I think it is purly because of religion that so many people have one partner. If it were not for religion, way more sex would be happening and the world would be such a better place. Can anyone give me a good reason for monogamy besides the bible says so? It makes no sense to me. Does anyone else have an opinion on the matter, or am I the only one?

    So what religion are beavers and penguins and bald eagles?

    I think its the norm for humans, but humans live to be contrary

      I hear ya, the animal idea is one. But also think about this. Religion is slowly having less infulence on how people think as society as a whole modernizes. And at the same time, it is fair to say that monogamous relationships are a smaller and smaller percentage.

        Monogamy is good for humans because of our long time to mature. Males want to protect the children and if theres a connection of love that just drives the evolutionary advantage further.

      But I think the whole idea that that is a bad thing is because religion has made monogamy the norm. Obviously switching now would fuck shit up.

        It all comes down to females, would guys want to fuck every female in sight without any repercussions? Fuck yeah we would but that would cause societal problems that magnify because of our intelligence. Apes can pull of polygamy but they dont have the intelligence to notice themselves in a mirror.

    Monogamy is a game that many have tried to play but too often fail.

    People often get tired of having sex with the same partner even after a couple sessions. Expecting someone to go a lifetime with ONE sex partner is not natural.

    It reminds me of those picturea that show a super hot lady and says, "No matter how hot she is, someone is tired of having sex with her".

      Well said! That is a bit of evidence that Supports it also. Millions of people everyday cheat on there partners, and even more wish they could or have some desire to. Damn religion fucked us up!
