Is it normal to think emoticons are retarded?

And to think the first one that started using them on the web was an insecure, uninteresting and obnoxious idiot?

    Pretty normal for someone who is out of touch with their right brain.

    How sad you never got smileys on your schoolwork.

    They are used to convey intention when that intention is otherwise stripped away by not being face-to-face.

    You sound cold and inhuman so I can understand why you don't want to show any human feeling. Maybe let the rest of us humans be human, though?

  • I love emoticons, animated or not. If I'm just joking but my statement could be taken in an offensive way, a =P is the perfect way to show I'm only being jokey.

  • Emotions are very limited in todays world which is why i wouldnt say i have many emotions.
    I mean it seems that instead of people loving another they actualy just love the idea of love which misses the whole point of love.
    I dont feel love often but I understand it more than most.

      That's a fact. I'm glad I found an answer from someone who knows how to interpret the mind from the body and vice versa.

    Animated emoticons are indeed very annoying.

    I think the opposite. Anyone who doesn't use emoticons when I'm having a friendship conversation online, bores me incredibly. :/

    In debates and specially on here, idgaf about others using them.

  • idk...a shorthand for feeling is useful when one is short on time and characters. In this scenario, I think you're some kind of PointDexter to write screeds about an emotion that an emoticon can convey in 3 characters.

  • It can get obnoxious if it's used over and over but then again everything grates on the nerves when over used.

    U mad? :}
