I think it's very common and I did it.But i just felt it's not a solution.Being upset, and suicide may seem a little stupid. But everyone has his right to choose whether the world is a suitable place to live in.Once you really can't bear it and life seems a sustained bitter course without any promissing futures, can you use your right.

animalcracker is clearly suffers from Type2 blonde syndrome...or has a fantastic sence of sarcasam.

Either way, yeah, I think about it. But I think people who do think about it will be more drawn to this question than people who don't. Understand?

i think this is quite common although i don't actually know that many people who feel that way, but i most definately do. and to be quite honest i suffer from depression and i feel like this almost every single day. the important phrase to remember is, never give up!

When you think about suicide when you're up-set it's call depression. I've been there and it's normal. I thought about suicide a few times, but now when I get sad I just cry. I think about the good things in my life. Never think your life is not worth it. Everyone is here for a reason.

very good question my friend. Although this sentence doesn't make 100% sense (and i dont know if its a quote ive heard or if ive made this up) - "I couldn't live with myself if I killed myself"

I think its comforting. It puts me in control instead of the people who harass and humiliate me. I keep a bottle of sleeping pills under my bed, along with a note. The only reason I haven't done it yet is because I still have 3 people who would give a damn if I died. Even though they have no idea that I am this way (they wouldn't understand, they would only ship me off to a shrink or something of that sort) but it still keeps me from feeling totally worthless. At least I mean something to 3 people.

Depression is just another word for human. A lot of these professionals will say your depressed and then give you very powerful psychotropic drugs. To introduce a already unstable mind to a powerful drug doesn't seem like a very smart thing to do. Suicidal thoughts are normal. I don't know that they are healthy though. What is considered healthy is another discussion all together. What ever you do don't expect some professional to really care about helping you. In my opinion they are interested in helping to line their pocket books.

Agree with your conclusions 100%, especially the point about prescribing pharmaceuticals to an unstable personality already stressed.

And your point about professionals more interested in merely prescribing medications and collecting fees instead of genuinely finding ways to address psychological ailments...again, very astute.

When I was younger, I thought about suicide all the time, even when I wasn't upset. I had a really negative view of myself...now, I'm happy to admit that suicide is impossible for me to think about anymore.

I used to do it lot when I was angry or frustrated, but could never bring myself to do it :P. But I sometimes I just take comfort in sorrow and just being alone to 'get back up again'.

If things in your life are really getting you down, having thoughts of suicide can be a normal progression of how you're feeling.

Actually starting to plan a suicide is not normal, because no matter how bad things are getting there is someone out there who cares, and doesn't want to see you end your life.

So yes thoughts are normal I think most people have had the thought at some point in their life (even if they won't admit it!)

Getting help from a good counsellor will help if these thoughts persist. So will talking to friend to get support, and cofiding in people who are caring.

It's normal. I keep a noose and a suicide note in my dresser drawer.

"It has been suggested that suicide troubles and appalls us because it so intransigently rejects our deeply held conviction that life must be worth living. While there is undoubtedly some truth in this, in more cases than one would like to admit the reason for the shock may not be the challenges to the belief that life is good, but the fact that one is not really quite sure that it is".

And anyway, we have a fundamental right to decide if we want to leave this world.

Honestly i do not think suicide is normal, however it is comnon when one gets upset and feel as if they are alone in the world and have no purpose they usually feel the need to take their own life. However it is important not to give into such thoughts. everyone is made with a purpose it is up to you to seek God and figure out what this particular purpose is. Don't allow the enemy(satan/devil/the man..lol) to defeat you...

I think it's immature to think about suicide every time one little thing goes wrong... If you're on a computer right now then you already have a better quality of life than most of the world. you should be thankful... it's about as immature as when little kids yell "I hate you!" because they don't get a toy or something

Yes. I have contemplated it many times and on a few occasions, I've actually attempted to do it. However, I'll become too scared to act out my plans or something will happen that will put them to a stop. My movie plots and poems used to contain a lot on the subject of suicide. It became a common place for a character to kill themselves for whatever reason... While, I do get fleeting thoughts to kill myself every now and then, I haven't been extremely depressed in a while.

When i was taking antidepressants i use to write out my suicide note. It wasnt healthy. Reading back on them now i never wanna go back to that place... but i obviously didnt wanna go that bad or i would have been gone by now.....

Yes, it's normal. What is not normal is when you actually go ahead with it, or self harm. When I'm upset, I often think about killing myself, which makes me more upset. But the way I look at it is that it always looks brighter in the morning! Whatever was bothering won't be so bad anymore. Plus, I'd be too scared to kill myself. Whoever or whatever was bothering you isn't worth wasting your whole life over.

You need to provide more details. It might be normal for a person to get really upset and say or consider something stupid such as killing or hurting themselves or someone else, but when you start getting into specifics it tends to appear unhealthy and abnormal. By specifics, I mean, if you get pissed off and paint and enact a picture in your mind where you take that wire from the phone, tie it to a chandelier, and then hang yourself but make sure you cut off your fingers before you push away the chair so that you can't break loose. Then, it is starting to become a real problem that is unhealthy and abnormal. Also, if it goes this far, you should discuss this with a trusted adult preferably someone who is trained dealing with people who have thoughts of suicide.

It's normal to think about suicide when your upset, I do it too. But what your really feeling is you know people will suffer if you do die, and they'll feel bad for you, which you'll probably like. You want people to feel bad for you so you can feel better. thats what ithink

I believe it's normal when you're upset. But something else to think about is whether or not those feelings come about due to an actual death wish. For me, it's more of a fantasy involving other people. I've spent more time thinking about how people in my life would react and taking some weird satisfaction in them suffering because of me sort of like an "I'll show you" sort of mentality. That's not a true death wish, that's a cry for help. I've realized I think likethat because I've always felt happiness was entitled to me. But it's not, I have to work for it like anything else.

It's related to being depressed. Rather normal to think to one's self "I'ld rather be dead right now." However, thinking does not always lead to doing. It's normal, and is a sign of depression. Unfortunately, sometimes life is depressing. Eventually (hopefully) those thoughts turn to problem solving. What is best to make things change? How can I solve this? ... Sometimes it's a process of discovery and motivation to change a bad situation. Sometimes it's fatal. Please don't ever act on it. Your doctor can help you with anti-depressants if this type of thinking is severe. It takes time to get an appointment, so make it now and you will feel better soon. Good luck.

I Guess it is normal. In a way it depends on who it is. Many people tend to think about it but would not even attempt to do it. In a way it is normal as long as you don't attempt to.

It's very normal to think about suicide when you're upset. What's much more dangerous is if you're having the IMPULSE to kill yourself, which is entirely different.
The brain is very naive and if you are experiencing a lot of grief or depression or any other kind of mental anguish, your subconscious mind will step in to give you advice on how to help the problem and get rid of the pain that you're feeling. Unfortunately this advice is suicide cause it's the easiest.
It's important to remember that it's only your mind trying to give you really dumb advice and that the second you ever have the impulse to actually follow through with it, please see a professional immediately. Just tell yourself, "there goes my mind having those ridiculous thoughts again." Works every time for me.
