Is it normal to think about murder suicide?

I have a disabled brother in my care, and sometimes i think about killing him and myself. It bothers me that he can't have a normal life or be appreciated as a regular person, and i worry about what would happen to him if i weren't around. There is the option of putting him in care, but i don't want to do that in case he has a worse life. That's why i feel that maybe we would be better off dead.

  • I don't know how disabled he is because you didn't specify but if he can function at all you should teach him to be more independent.
Most people with disabilities can learn things even if they have to learn differently than other people.
This goes for physical and mental disabilities.

  • You should stop thinking those thoughts.

  • In all honesty, it's absolutely normal to have those thoughts.

I have a friend with a son who suffered from Cerebral Palsy. He confided, with a great degree of shame and guilt, that he had similar fantasies. Those fantasies seem rational and compassionate, but you know it would be horribly wrong...the fact that you'd commit suicide following his murder proves that you know it. The only reason for that would be to escape facing the consequences.

There are many more options. There are support groups for people caring for disabled relatives. Find one near you...you'll be surprised how not-alone you are in your thoughts, but moreso...they'll have constructive suggestions beyond the three you listed.

In case you're wondering...my friends son died of natural causes at 18. He was crushed.

I think it's very generous of you.
I mean you could just live your life and not care about his well being or you kill him to set him free but risk prison so kill yourself too. So you are wasting your life for him.
