Is it normal to tense up so hard my head nearly vibrates?

In the past several years I've developed this "tic" I guess, I don't know why it suddenly came on.

When I'm told to hold still for a photo, or people are all looking at me for a reaction my head and neck tense up so much that I can hardly keep it still. It feels almost like my head is trying to vibrate and I'm trying to reign it in. I can't tell if people notice something strange or not when it's happening.

  • I make my head (and several other parts of my body) vibrate, but at will so it might not really be what you feel. But the problem is that afterwards my head hurts really bad. You are normal if it stops eventually.

I actually know what you mean! This happened to me back when I was in middle school and I too wondered if it was normal but didn't know who to ask without sounding like a freak. Haha. It just kind if stopped happening to me so I can't really give you any advice but to try relaxing.

  • I can do that on command. It's not really something bad .

Everyone gets nervous in similar situations, where we're being looked at or attention is paid to us when we don't want it.

You're way too tense. Try distracting yourself from what's going on. Look at ways you can relax more.

Try Googling for tips on how to relax in tense situations.

Funny, this has just started happening to me recently too, but only when I'm getting my hair cut. When I have to keep my head completely still, it will start to vibrate and tremble. I don't think it's normal.
